Report: Darren Wilson Expected to be ‘Eased Out’ of Police Department

ERGUSON, Mo. (CBS St. Louis/AP) — Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson is reportedly expected to be “eased out” of the department.

A source tells MSNBC that Wilson – who fatally shot Michael Brown that touched off months of protests – will be “eased out” of the Ferguson Police Department and might resign. The report also stated Chief Thomas Jackson would resign, but the department said that is not true.

Jackson also denied the report to NBC News.

“I have not been asked to resign, I have not been fired, and I will not be resigning next week. If I do resign, it will be my choice,” Jackson said.

MSNBC reports that the St. Louis County Police Department is expected to take over the Ferguson Police Department. The source told MSNBC that plans are “extremely delicate” right now.

A government official confirmed Wednesday that there are discussions among Missouri officials about having Jackson step down as part of efforts to change the department. The official was not authorized to discuss those talks by name and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday that there was an obvious need for “wholesale change” in the Ferguson Police Department.

The statement at a forum in Washington came as the Justice Department continues a broad investigation into the practices of the police department following the Aug. 9 police shooting of Brown. That investigation focuses on alleged patterns of racial discrimination and on how officers in the predominantly white department use force and search and arrest suspects. “Ferguson Chief says he has not resigned, he has not been told to resign. He has not been fired. If he leaves, it will be his choice alone,” the department posted on Twitter.

If he's not charged and they dump him anyways, there might be another lawsuit against the city . . .

There ought to be.

He was there on behalf of the city, doing exactly what he should have been. And now the city is going to sell him down the river when he did nothing wrong?

This stinks...

I wouldn’t leave for less than $5 million

Certainly the DOJ could come up with that to avoid Obama having to drag this election stunt out long after the election.

Frankly, I think whatever happens, he should walk away. Get a lawyer and negotiate a financial arrangement whereby he could live comfortably. Then just disappear.

He will have lawyers lined up 30 deep begging for the opportunity to hit the city of Ferguson for a 7 or 8 figure settlement.

I doubt he could ever continue to work in Ferguson. I hope he goes to the job of his choosing. Preferably a behind-the-scenes gig, for his own safety, NOT for appeasement.

So threatening thugs rule. Along with princess nurses.

“Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday that there was an obvious need for “wholesale change” in the Ferguson Police Department.”

Ye gods, I can’t believe he said that. Can he really be that obtuse?

You expected something else?

“Frankly, I think whatever happens, he should walk away. Get a lawyer and negotiate a financial arrangement whereby he could live comfortably. Then just disappear.”

Agree.

He should also contact someone willing to co-author a book to be written in the future about his lynching by the media and the government.

But, I also believe that he will be a defendant in a Civil lawsuit filed by the family of the Gentle Giant.

And who knows how long that will drag out.

Holder has been heard to say not to expect a Federal Civil Rights investigation to justify a criminal indictment but I would not count on the DOJ refusing to move forward anyway to throw red meat to the lynch mob even though they know it is doubtful to get a conviction.

Why?

Seems what's needed is a wholesale cahnge in the people of Ferguson.

I always expect the best for good people.

I always know it’s an iffy proposition.

I always realize when we’ve been had.

I always try to support blow back on public institutions who fail good people and ultimately the public.

And I know you’re right in there with me.

Anyone over the rank of Sgt or LT in most larger city PO-PO Departments got there by being political hacks.

This kind of Pussy-Ass behavior is hardly surprising.

I am sure “eased” means paid a substantial sum. This is the cost of patronizing unlawful behavior.

If Wilson leaves, he’s done. What other law enforcement agency is going to hire a nationally known murderer of a black child who was just walking down the street? (do I really need a sarc tag?)

I believe an indictment is necessary for a lawsuit. No indictment, no moola.

Well, Officer Wilson could get the money from the city, then flee the country. Would make it hard for the grifters to collect anything from him if he can't be found.

He may be the first participant in the Law Enforcement Officer protection program.

Every two bit crook and gang banger will be going for a bounty on him.
