Yes. And ....?
Many sick perversions are not unfortunately, illegal. There were once laws against homosexuality in many states. There are many countries in which laws against homosexuality are on the books and even occasionally enforced.
What Cruz is saying is that the whole issue is not one in which the Federal Government has any say. The gays say that any citizen has the right to marry anyone of either sex (or any sex?). Not so. In many states, one may not marry a relative within varying limits of consanguinity. One may not marry more than one spouse. Neither does any jurisdiction have the right to dictate what a clergyman may, or may not do in performing his church functions or ceremonies.
In every town and hamlet in this country there is an attorney that two people of the same sex can hire to form a life partnership, giving each partner the full legal prerogatives of any person married legally to another person of the opposite sex. That partnership is just that. Homosexual "marriage" is as impossible as "Free Slavery."
“Homosexual “marriage” is as impossible as “Free Slavery.”
May I please borrow that to illustrate the point next time someone acts as if “homosexual marriage” is a real deal? It is one of the simplest and best explanations I’ve come across...
If homosexuality is not a perversion, then there is no basis for preventing homosexual marriage. Or imprisoning bakery owners for refusing homosexual wedding cakes.
There is no moderate or half-way position on this one. The moderate position loses. Perhaps it is now so late in the game that the strident position loses as well, but at least you stood for something.
Republic leaders are spineless. They tiptoe around immigration, homosexual marriage, race-baiting and a host of other issues because they are cowed and afraid the media will criticize them.
