Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL.) is thinking seriously about running for president in 2016, according to his son, George P. Bush.
According to Commentary magazine, Jeb Bush had an impressive record as governor, including tax reductions totaling $20 billion. Given that performance, why is Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, upset?
Politico, and many others, assert its because of an answer Bush gave in 2012 to a hypothetical question posed by a member of the House Budget Committee, which resurfaced now as he contemplates running for president. Bush was asked if he could accept tax increases of $1 dollar for every $10 dollars in spending cuts. He said he could and seemed enthusiastic about the 10-for-1 formula.
Norquist and other anti-tax advocates perhaps see in Bushs comment a replay of his fathers pledge at the 1988 Republican National Convention: Read my lips: no new taxes. He violated that pledge when congressional Democrats promised to cut spending in exchange for tax increases. Bush raised taxes. Democrats did not cut spending. Many have long believed that broken promise contributed to his failure to win a second term.
Republicans allow themselves to get caught in this trap because many assume that government not only needs increasing amounts of taxpayer money, but that it can be relied upon to spend it wisely. Anyone who believes that hasnt been paying attention.

Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL.)
GUARANTEED to lose in 2016.
I remember that event. Too bad Bush believed the lying dems.
The Bush’s are just grifters looking to divert the contract money to their friends and supporters.
As if any other candidates these days are somehow different...
But the point remains.
We need a solid American idealist in the slot, someone who will work against the self-interested groups to rejuvenate the country.
Where you might find such a man against such a system...only Diogenes knows.
Bush III NO WAY!!!
Jeb Bush is a Bush. They make good governors and lousy presidents.
Just think what taxes will be like if he brings in all the undocumented Democrats he wants to bring in and make Dem voters out of them.
Jeb seems like a nice guy. Heck, his brother and Dad seem like very nice guys.
But when I remember their Presidencies...and what stands out about them...the Bushes don’t seem as nice to America as I first thought.
Good show, but...
I thought he lost was because the e-vil, little Ross Perot 'stole' Republican votes. (Har, har har!!!)
Bush is YES on Amnistia
Bush is YES on Common Core
Bush appears to be YES on new federal revenue (taxes, fees)
So I am NO on Bush.
