While President Obama has returned to the campaign trail to court the black vote ahead of the midterm elections, race has arisen as an issue in two key Senate races, albeit for very different reasons.
A new television ad airing in Louisiana makes the case that the nation’s first black president has been bad for the black community.
The ad comes from a group called “Progressives for Immigration Reform” and uses images of Hurricane Katrina devastation and blacks standing in unemployment lines to argue that “our own president” wants to allow in millions of illegal immigrant workers to “take jobs when many of us still can’t find jobs.”

Not exactly what C-SPAN expected to run right before airing someone from the Center for American Progress.
A self-described “82-year-old black senior citizen grandmother” named Joyce called C-SPAN to explain why she voted for the Republican candidate in every race on the ballot this cycle.
I voted straight Republican because I have noticed for years what the Democrat Party has done to my people,” she said. “Unemployment is higher in the black community that it is — double with unemployment than it is anywhere else.”
“There’s no way I could continue to say I’m a Christian and stay with the Democrat Party,” she continued. “They advocate the killing of babies and taking from the doers and giving to the ones sitting doing nothing.”

Well, he’s been very, very good for the 1%, and also for insurance companies. Not too good for the middle and working classes, though. Really, really bad for coal miners (who were making 70-90K in this state until recently, and you could live pretty darned well in Appalachia on 90K a year).
I was reading that the new super-low interest rates are being snapped up by...wait for it...the super-rich, because they have no problemo qualifying for the loan and the mortgage companies are just about throwing the money at the highly qualified. No wonder the Hollywood types just love the guy!
