California issues quarantine policy for Ebola exposure

Anyone arriving in California from an Ebola-affected area and who has had personal contact with a person infected with the deadly virus will be quarantined for 21 days, according to an order issued Wednesday by the state's public health director.

The order provides a more nuanced set of guidelines to assess the risk associated with people returning from regions afflicted by an Ebola outbreak -- currently Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea -- than the controversial blanket quarantines in New Jersey, New York and Maine.

California says Christie is right.

California joins other states to reject obamas ever chaging science.

And DNC punks Christie and shows what a weak fat fool he is.

Jerry Brown is smarter than obama?

Who knew???

Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your......

(Since all records of obama's past were lost in a tragic boating accident and fire, no one can be certain that the guy in the red circle isn't him...)

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

“For purposes of this order, ‘quarantine’ may include observation and monitoring of the Ebola contact and/or limitations on his or her freedom of movement.”

See the actual California order here: file:///C:/Users/afavish/Documents/Order_%20Ebola10292014.pdf

It is not necessarily a quarantine. It can be solely observation and monitoring. The subject does not necessarily have to restrict movement.

Chris Christie and Jerry Brown are wrong on this one.

Rick Perry has it right.

It is not necessarily a quarantine ..

While that's true, to many of the LIVs it'll sound a lot like:  CA says FUØ

The noose is tightening on D.C. Since Maryland and Virginia are refusing to quarantine, everyone from EbolaLand will choose to fly to the D.C. area. This should greatly increase the chance of an Ebola case getting into the wild in the D.C. area, which is going to make it REALLY fun to watch what Congress does when their own miserable hides are suddenly in the direct line of fire.

this Rick Perry?

Texas nurse quarantined ‘at the Governor’s request’:

http://kxan.com/2014/10/29/texas-nurse-quarantined-after-returning-from-west-africa/

Governor creates task force, asks: “the Legislature to give state health authorities that power for at least 48 hours, allowing them to use immediate arrest powers to prevent potential exposures before they occur, and allowing time to seek a court order to extend the control order if necessary.

http://www.texastribune.org/2014/10/22/texas-issued-few-control-orders-ebola-crisis/

Press release, Governor establishes bio containment centers:
http://governor.state.tx.us/news/press-release/20256/

““Gov. Perry believes it is the right policy to ban air travel from countries hit hardest by Ebola … provided there is an exception for aid workers,”

http://www.politico.com/story/2014/10/rick-perry-ebola-response-111982.html

(also wants infectious control checkpoints set up at border)

Texas Gov. Rick Perry urged the U.S. government to begin screening air passengers arriving from Ebola-affected nations, including taking their temperatures.
“Customs officials and Border Patrol agents at all points of entry should immediately be directed to conduct enhanced screening procedures,” said Perry.

The facts are that Chris Christie locked a nurse with no symptoms in a Newark tent, Rick Perry gives a person without Ebola symptoms to self quarantine at home.

In the case of Ebola, asymptomatic is a foolish argument against containment policy. Hickox received immediate medical attention - which is proving to be critical to survival. Airline passengers on the connecting flight to Maine were spared 21 days of worry and monitoring.

What Hickox fails to understand is, this is as much about her own health and wellbeing as the public health. And while she argues that ‘self-monitoring works’ reality has proved otherwise as we have already observed, both in the US, and back in good old Liberia where lying about and hiding the infected is rampant -as she is well aware.

Duncan was asymptomatic. Vinson was asymptomatic. Dr. Spencer was asymptomatic. Duncan’s brood was asymptomatic. The nurse that just returned to Central Texas is asymptomatic. Nurse Pham’s dogkid is asymptomatic, as is her boyfriend. Our troops are asymptomatic. All under quarantine for 21 days or until tested clear after symptoms appeared. Everybody seems to understand the importance of bio-hazard containment coupled with early medical intervention - everyone except a graduate of the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence course, that is:

http://www.uta.edu/utamagazine/archive-issues/2010-13/2012/07/passion-practicality-drive-nursing-graduate/

Which makes one wonder what the CDC is teaching people.

Hickox’s last exposure to a severely shedding patient was the night before her flight. Had she not temp’d at the airport, she’d be home free and we’d never even have heard of her. But she temp’d at 101 twice - once at the airport where she claimed a ‘flushed face’ (except this was immediately on arrival with no time to get mad) and again at the hospital, where she was angry - this was in her own words. She received immediate medical attention from doctors and nurse volunteers. If Hickox becomes symptomatic in 5 or so more days, and I hope she doesn’t, she will change her song quick enough. For now, it’s hard to claim “suffering” from being limited to the comforts of her own home with pay for another 14 days.

I would prefer that she stay in her house but am more concerned about giving government officials such as Chris Christie or Obama the power to arbitrarily set standards and force people into quarantine.

If she were to come down with Ebola symptoms, I am sure she will head to the hospital for treatment.

The histrionic nurse who refused to obey the Ebola quarantine is another Wendy Davis trying to become in the new darling of the democratic MSM.
This nurse is a typical democratic spoiled brat that in pursuit of his political agenda she puts in grave danger the health of her family and neighbors. If she had arrived in NY, where the governor is Democrat, instead of NJ, she would have not mounted such a disgraceful show.

While Obama disregards the Ebola menace, the Ebola panic spreads at the Defense Department.

Soldiers returning home from Ebola infested African countries are quarantine 21 days in Italy before entering U.S.

430 doctors and nurses died killed by the disease while treating Ebola patients in Africa...

Some African countries put 42 days in quarantine those coming from Ebola countries.

Why are health care workers coming from Ebola countries not forced to be at least 21 days in quarantine when they return to U.S.A. for the protection of their own families and the country?

TAKES ONE’S BREATH AWAY....:

This is mind boggling!!! Don’t you think its about time Pee Wee developed a PLAN??? This is a time for LEADERSHIP, not his constant waffling. Is it time to panic? Of course not. The time to panic is when it is too late to develop a consistent plan of action. What is the incubation time for STUPIDITY?

Lewiston Idaho veterinarian’s Letter to the Editor re: Ebola, Nails it!

The present Ebola crisis in the world is frightening. I have submitted the following letter to the editor of the Lewiston Morning Tribune:

Editor, Lewiston Morning Tribune:

If I wish to import a horse into the United States from Liberia or any African country other than Morocco, the horse needs to undergo a 60 day quarantine period at a USDA approved quarantine facility prior to mingling with the general population of horses in this country. Africa has a disease called African Horse Sickness that does not exist in the US; this is the way we have kept it out of this country.

African Horse Sickness does not cause disease in people, only horses; our government has determined that it would be devastating to the US horse industry if it were to come here.

The United States (and virtually all other countries) require a myriad of tests and often quarantine prior to bringing in a foreign animal.

I can’t legally cross state lines in the United States with a horse or cow without a health certificate signed by a USDA accredited veterinarian stating that the animal has been inspected and found free of infectious disease. In most cases blood tests are also required. In fact I can’t legally cross the Snake River and ride my horse in Idaho without a health certificate and a negative blood test for Equine Infectious Anemia.

I’m not complaining; the United States of America, the States of Idaho and Washington as well as the other 48 states take the health of our livestock very seriously, and we have a very good record at keeping foreign animal diseases out of our country. I am happy to do my part to maintain biosecurity in our animal population.

If I am a resident of Liberia incubating Ebola, to enter the United States all I need to do is present a valid visa, and lie when asked if I have been exposed to Ebola. Within hours (no quarantine required) I can be walking the streets of any city in the United States.

I feel very fortunate to live in a country that values our animals so highly.

If she comes down with Ebola outside of a quarantine, she will risk many lives getting to the hospital. No thanks.
