Dr. Spencer initially was asymptomatic. He was trusted to self-quarantine and he violated that trust, potentially exposing an unknown number of people to a deadly virus. Had quarantine been enforced these exposures would not have occurred.

Hickox initially presented with symptoms. Should this have been ignored?

Actually, according to the Doctors Without Borders protocols he received upon leaving Guinea, he was trusted to self-monitor, not to self-quarantine.

If Hickox had symptoms, then why was she released from her quarantine tent? Should Christie have ignored this?

If she did have symptoms, then should everyone who came into contact with her be quarantined even if they are asymptomatic?
