LION AND THE LAMB: Climate change and the white male dilemma (partial barf alert)
Crossville (Tn) Chronicle ^ | Oct. 28, 2014 | Thomas I. Warren

Posted on 10/29/2014 6:12:52 AM PDT by libstripper

Climate change is a threat to all of humanity, as it is to all non-human species. Climate change is a threat to all the elements of creation—water, soil, air—which allow for humans to live and to thrive. Climate change is a threat to everything on the planet, and the window of opportunity to respond is rapidly running out. Yet, strangely enough, the threat of climate change is not equally distributed. Some of us, apparently, have more to fear than others.

According to a sociological study, “Cool Dudes: The Denial of Climate Change Among Conservative White Males in the United States,” by professors Aaron McCright and Riley Dunlap, conservative white males are disproportionately represented among climate change deniers. While hardly a surprise, it is interesting to see this phenomenon statistically proven and sociologically analyzed. Yet, why would conservative, white males, among all the varieties of human beings, be foremost involved and vocal in regard to denying the scientific certitude of the changing nature of our climate?

I'll leave the comments to his article, obviously written by better educated and more intelligent people than its author, to blister him. The most important reason I posted it and the reason for only a partial barf alert is the following quote:

Untethered, free-market capitalism, deeply dependent upon the endless extraction and use of natural resources, is now increasingly being pointed to as the source of our climatic meltdown. This warming of the planet, and many of the solutions being proposed to slow down its effects, may spell the end of capitalism as we know it.

Right there he blew the whole AGW scam. The AGW superstition has nothing to do with "saving the earth"; rather its whole purpose is to destroy capitalism and replace it with inescapable, massive, undemocratic central planning that will destroy our economy and impoverish everyone. The author needs to be commended for this article because he's unintentionally exposed the real motivation of the whole AGW crowd.

Yes, just like we’ve been saying all along, AGW warmists are nothing more than the old communists. Now they’re out and proud.

I see it as just the opposite. The people hyping climate change are the people disenfranchised by the current system.
The people that don't earn their living by extracting raw materials from the earth and producing goods (artistic people, educators, politicians, etc.) are the ones causing the hysteria.

They are trying to depreciate the capitalist system because it values those that produce our food, equipment, and material goods more than the people that make movies, write books, or make laws.

Heard retired TV weatherman John Coleman, who studied and reported the weather for decades, and co-founded The Weather Channel, share his assertion that man-made climate change is no longer scientifically credible. He laid out quite succinctly what “climate change” IS all about .... money. Progressives taking money and redistributing it to themselves, all in the name of saving the planet. Since grants, etc. depend on toeing the line on this issue that has been adopted by a politcal party (and he said the media is all liberal so of course, they picked it up & report the bad science as gospel), students and professors go along. He said once they get tenure or retire, they start to change their tune and admit there is no man-made climate change. Unfortunately, “climate change” with it’s worthless regulations, etc. has caused the cost of living to go up for everyone, but it is especially affecting the poor. Interview was on Coast to Coast last night if you’re interested in it.

The most informed and engaged people are the more cynical of flimflam science? Shocking.

I would have expected elementary school dropouts, funding their crack pipes with welfare checks, to be the most highly critical of what the government-academia complex spoon feeds them.

Substitute LIBERAL DEMOCRATS for CLIMATE CHANGE and the statement is dead on.

Climate change is not a particular threat to anything. It is the milieu in which all life exists.

Gorites want to change the climate and weather for the entire planet when we don’t even have the power or technology to divert or attract one local rain cloud.

There have been many cycles of climate change long before humans came along.
Natural phenomena, like the SUN, the orbit, inclination, volcanoes and other natural cycles have much more influence on the climate than anything we did.
It's hubris to think we have any chance of fixing natural climate changes.
Sure it's good to make things cleaner and more efficient, but the driving force should be economy of use, not radical environmentalism.

The destruction of the human race and human civilization is not an option.

Because this cohort in the population is over-represented in fields where rational analysis of evidence is a critical element in our success. l recognize that the author referred to climate change as a "scientific certitude". Since even Einstein's work is still subject to inquiry, testing and experimental validation, I wonder if this author could name another scientific certitude.

The commune city dwellers have all the votes they need to tax and regulate their energy use any way they want to. While they can't tax and regulate the farmer that feeds them, they can tax his products and the fossil fuel trucks that bring them in. Have at it libtards! We won't stop you. Just keep your loony tune antics within city limits and you won't run into any shotguns. And don't tell the country bumpkins that feed, house, light, heat, water, and protect you how to do their jobs. You couldn't survive a week without them.
