White House: ‘Not unusual’ for Ebola quarantine rules to differ for military, general population

Correct. Usually they are looser for the militarily as they know for sure what their health is, how good a shape they are in, that they have been vaccinated and where they have been and what they have been doing.

These are all things that are unknown for civilians.

And of everyone they have the most chance of not being infected, of recognizing when they might have been infected, and of recognizing the signs of infection and of promptly getting treatment.

These are things that a civilian might or might not do.

The rule are therefore backwards.

Well, its no biggie anyway, because we’ll be quarantining those who “don’t treat Ebola patients”, and putting those who have been in intimate contact with Ebola patients on the honor system.

What was all that Texas two-stepping about the difference between ‘volunteer’ medics and the ‘already under stricter regulations’ military?? Isn't our military ‘volunteer’ too? Not his best or even close to best explanation for discrepancies, considering it's our military protecting the medicos in the first place.

Not at all, the rules make total sense for the military, the military is more concerned about taking itself out through infectious diseases, not less so.

OK, I get it.

The military are ordered to West Africa and do not come into contact with Ebola patients. So, since they are at low risk they need to be quarantined.

Civilians, on the other hand, volunteer to go and do come in contact with Ebola patients. So, since they are at high risk they should not be quarantined.

You just need to understand what passes for logic in the regime.

The military is ordered to do things, while aid workers volunteer.

Total idiocy. The point is, or should be, what danger might the returnees of whatever status pose to the population of the USA.

And if we are being told the truth about what most military personnel will be doing, they will actually have less contact with people infected, or potentially infected with ebola, than health care workers.

When we have volunteers going over there, we want to make sure that when they come back, we are prudent and they're not at risk."

At least the military is being quarantined in a very nice area, close to Venice. I wonder how the Italians feel about it, though.

But if you're some goody two shoes lib, quarantine is too good for you. If the NJ Bitch gives it to someone else, I hope she gets sued into bankruptcy.

The military may not want to quarantine literally each individual, just because they were in West Africa, but their standards will probably be strict.

Republican politicians should be easily able to use the logic of why the construction guys are being quarantined before returning to their mother units, to explain why Obama should be quarantining the people who’s job it is to treat the Ebola patients during their most infectious times and liquid death throes, and which accounts for all American infections so far.

Meanwhile, foreign citizens from Obola zones are allowed to freely enter the U.S.

“The military? They are paid to die. That’s what they do. They are stupid, and because they are stupid, we put them in quarantine, which is what we should do with the military regardless of Ebola.

Civilians? Not dumb enough to volunteer, for the military at least. I’m going to treat the civilians differently from the military just to piss everyone off, and to underline that the military should just shut up and die in a tent somewhere.”

the U.S. Military needs to ‘circumscribe’ their allegiance to the illegal orders from their illegal ‘commander & chief ‘

I saw the hero of Benghazi make a statement on the lawn in front of his escapes chopper.

He seemed to be saying that the military would not have direct contact as the health care workers and they would have a 21 day quarantine because they were different.

Didn’t he have it backwards. Shouldn’t those who have direct care contact be the ones quarantined. What did I miss?
