This is the feds’ supposedly tough new policy, designed to strike a balance between the mandatory three-week quarantine of at-risk health-care workers back from the hot zone a la New York and New Jersey and the “f*** it, let’s go bowling” approach of Craig Spencer andNancy Snyderman. New rule: If you’ve been treating someone with Ebola and have actually jabbed yourself with a used needle, you should probably maybe think about hanging around the house for a few weeks. Apart from a daily jog out in public, that is.

As I understand it people over in Western Africa are burying ebola victims in secret now, and at one point were dumping the bodies in the rivers to keep the government from cremating them. So jabbing with dirty needles really isn’t necessary to be at risk.

I don’t think that they should involuntarily quarantine them if they can post 25 millions dollars cash bond or show proof of a basic 25 million dollar personal liability insurance policy with a cap of no less than 100 million dollars. Additionally, they should be advised that they will be charged with manslaughter in case someone dies that they infected or assault if they infect a person and they do no die.

Let the marketplace sort it out. If the chances are so low (as per the self acclaimed experts), the cost of the bond or insurance will be only pennies a day; however, if the self acclaimed experts are not believable or wrong, the cost will be significantly higher. Responsibility has a cost.
