Great stuff. All reason & logic.
Amen, I always look forward to his Random Thoughts.
“The Smartest Man in America.”
He could care less for the average American. It's all about him and how the world sees him. This is confirmed by every political appointee he's ever made.
What was Holder doing from day one, other than trying to influence public opinion in the opposite direction?
Holder is a political hack who has done nothing to warrant the office he holds. To even think he's the best of the best to head the DOJ just shows how stupid Obozo really is. Sadly, he confirms that fact over and over again. Worst president this Republic has ever had.
Couldn’t agree more. 0bama picked Eric the Red because they’re alike and he knew Holder would do his bidding for him.
Wisconsin PING!!!
JRios1968 proffers that this is worth a Wisconsin Ping!
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Here’s the “money quote” from the last paragraph at the link:
Except for Congressional elections, the most important election this year is the close race for governor of Wisconsin. Governor Scott Walker has shown that he has substance and guts, rather than image and rhetoric, by opposing the government employee unions that have been bleeding the taxpayers. He would make a far better Republican presidential candidate in 2016 than Congressional phrase-makers or a retreaded candidate who lost in 2012.

I think it proved itself :-)
Don’t agree with Sowell’s views on Ted Cruz, but definitely agree with his views on Scott Walker. Really hope that the voters of Wisconsin are intelligent enough to re-elect him.
What has he said about Cruz?
I took "Congressional phrase-makers" to refer to both Rand Paul and Ted Cruz.
Bump
Ah, that jogged my memory, thanks.
Sowell threw the baby out with the bath water then. We went crazy for a Cruz back then not just because we were dissatisfied with the GOPe (though we were and are) but because he showed an actual spine and he can VOICE constitutional conservatism. We need those two points, and no one else can do it. Consistently. Without going off the rails seeking personal hedonistic satisfaction (Newt Gingrich). Cruz is it. So far.
Yes indeed. Sowell puts me in mind of Johnson’s assessment of Edmund Burke, “Yes, Burke is an extraordinary man. His stream of mind is perpetual.” I’ve long regarded Sowell as the smartest man in America. The only person living who approaches him is the Brit Theodore Dalrymple (Anthony Daniels), the greatest essayist alive, and that by long odds. Both men never fail to provoke thought. And the clarity of their prose is without parallel today. They’re not quite as good as Mencken, but they’re close. Mencken, despite his sarcasm, wrote with almost scientific precision.
And you're right about Cruz. He may very well be the most brilliant person in the U.S. Senate now, but I don't see it going to his head.
