To some people, “government” appears as a vast reservoir of power which inspires them to dream of what use might be made of it. They have favorite projects, of various dimensions, which they sincerely believe are for the benefit of mankind, and to capture this source of power, if necessary to increase it, and to use it for imposing their favorite projects upon their fellows is what they understand as the adventure of governing men.

Meanwhile I see government as quoted in 1984: "But always -- do not forget this, Winston -- always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face -- for ever."

It's amusing to go on lib websites and read lib comments about religion being responsible for all the world's violence. Except when some semi-sane lib ala Bill Maher mentions Islam as a huge source of violence, and lib heads explode. A number of them immediately start citing Christianity as a source of violence. The last major Christian wars ended more than three hundred years ago.

And then you'd like to remind libs of the last century when the atheists i.e. the communists murdered about one hundred million people.
