I don’t know what happened but it seems the officer would have swerved or slammed on brakes. Going into that situation, he should have been watching out for anything that could happen.

One Freeper above did mention that if the officer was not looking where he was driving, say he was looking at the other pursuing vehicle, it could be used to provide reasonable doubt of manslaughter. I’m sure sure I’d buy into that given the nature of the pursuit, but it might sway some jurors.
