“Mission creep”
True. Most federal government agencies should be eliminated. The CDC is probably one of them. But that doesn’t mean that everything they do is evil or incompetent, as most freepers seem to suggest.
“Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for U.S. teens. Seven teens ages 16 to 19 die every day from motor vehicle injuries.”
That IS a national disgrace. And they ARE right, that parents are key. The cost to have a few of their employees draw up a couple flyers and do a press release once a year in pretty negligible.
Better spent on ebola? Yeah another $100 on ebola will make all the difference. I cant wait for more ebola news. In three days we past the time limit of likelihood anyone else in America contracted the disease as a result of Duncan. By Nov 5, if no one else shows symptoms that means the super incompetent CDC contained ebola in America with no deaths and only two infections. I see big crow pie in the making.

If the only aspect of the CDC mission creep was $100 spent on warning teen age drivers to be cautious it wouldn’t be worth the time to comment.
But the truth is that they are involved in many issues that have nothing to do with disease and are spending a great deal of money on them.
Just do a searh on “cdc programs waste money”.
The pure craziness of many of their activities and the taxpayer money wasted on some of their programs is astounding.
But they are no different in the expansion of their authority through “mission creep” than the president and every other federal agency.
The minute they have a letterhead and logo they start to build empires and expand the scope of their operations.
