BOLD COLORS VS. PALE PASTELS: TEXAS SENS. TED CRUZ, JOHN CORNYN DIFFER ON GOP VISION
Breitbart ^ | 10/23/14 | Tony Lee

Posted on 10/23/2014 6:29:03 AM PDT by jimbo123

Texas' two Republican Senators disagree on what Republicans should prioritize if the party regains control of Congress.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who is considering a 2016 presidential run and is seen as the conservative voice in Congress, wants Republicans to try to repeal Obamacare and stop President Barack Obama's executive grants of amnesty.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), who may become Majority Whip if the GOP wins a net of six Senate seats this year, believes Republicans will only win the White House in 2016 if conservative stalwarts like Cruz water down their bold conservatism and compromise. Cornyn recently said "that his party will have to prove it can compromise and govern, or forfeit its chances of winning the White House in 2016."

Compromise or surrender? All I hear from the Cornyn brigade is surrender. No leadership.

Cornyn is wetting himself with glee over Obama’s upcoming executive amnesty. He can barely contain himself.

It is largely Cornyn's doing that the GOP has not been in the Senate majority these past several years. His reign as NRSC chairman was a disaster.
John Cornyn claims to be the 2nd most conservative member of the Senate.

Yet, as Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, he
hand-selected these "Republican" candidates:
  • Arlen Specter - Democrat
  • Charlie Crist - Democrat
  • Lincoln Chafee - Democrat
  • Lisa Murkowski - Independent

Also, when he had a chance to stop ObamaCare by supporting Ted Cruz' filibuster

he FAILED

and hid behind a meaningless vote later.

He pulled the same trick on the Senate amnesty bill
and again on raising the debt limit.

No one has done more to offer up quisling candidates or to dispirit the base.

Cornyn will have to win without my vote in November if he wants the job.

I don't vote for liberals that support Reid's liberal agenda with critical cloture votes.

I am voting today. I already plan to leave Land Commissioner blank because I refuse to vote for an open-borders candidate like George P Bush. I may leave Senator blank as well. It's one thing to hold one's nose, quite another to gag on the stench. I fear voting for Cornyn may cause me to puke. Then everybody at the polling place will think I've got Ebola symptoms.

Cruz is this generation’s Reagan. I support him, wholeheartedly and unreservedly. Cornyn only gets my vote in the general election to avoid electing more traitors and giving Harry Reid (traitor extraordinaire) more power.

If Cruz runs for President, it’ll be the first time since 1984 that I have actually voted FOR someone for President.

Unfortunately I held my nose and voted for this @$$ Clown. Took every fiber of my being to go against my conservative principals and push the button for Cornyn.

We need to take control of the Senate! This IMO supersedes my desire to vote against Cornyn.

What a choice...huh?

Pale pastels is what lost the Presidency in 2012. We have to draw a very sharp contrast in 2016.

I don ‘t know about you, but I am impatient with those Republicans who after the last election rushed into print saying, “We must broaden the base of our party”–when what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the differences between ourselves and our opponents.

It was a feeling that there was not a sufficient difference now between the parties that kept a majority of the voters away from the polls. When have we ever advocated a closed-door policy? Who has ever been barred from participating?

Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?

Let us show that we stand for fiscal integrity and sound money and above all for an end to deficit spending, with ultimate retirement of the national debt.- CPAC 1975

Not happy with Cornyn or Bush.

What are your/everyone's thoughts on early voting vs waiting till election day? Will it help against potential fraud to wait?

It’s really simple to Senator Cruz “Conservative” is a descriptive word with real meaning, to senator cornyn it’s an obligatory campaign slogan.
