I contend that increased rates are a feature, not a bug.
There’s no way they were stupid enough to believe the “reduce costs by $2500” lie. “They” being those telling the lie, not the sheeperal who repeated it.
This admin under Jarett (and she stated so herself) is all about vengeance. People getting shafted with higher rates, less coverage, dropped plans - all part of the plan of “getting even” with people who “need to know how it feels.”
I’m surprised the gov’t “allowed” them to make the side by side comparison.
My memory says that the ACA plan deductibles decrease as you go from bronze to silver to gold. The article says that a single, non-smoking, 40 year old male will pay about 500 a month (6000 a year) for a policy. The deductibles, IIRC, are about 6000, 3000, 1500, as you go from bronze to gold, so this silver plan has about a 3000 dollar deductible, if my memory is correct.
There are also co-pays, so the out-of-pocket for the customer is even more.
Before this guy gets coverage at any level he must pay 3000 out of pocket. For most people, that’s their entire annual medical expense unless they have some hospital time or serious illness. 9 thousand bucks paid is a lot of money. For the median income guy this is about 20 percent of his annual income.
