After failing to come to terms with Turner on a new deal, Dish Network has dropped CNN, Cartoon Network, truTV and TCM, among others.
"Despite our best efforts, we were unable to reach an agreement with Dish Network, and they have unilaterally decided to pull CNN, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, truTV, TCM, HLN, CNN en Espanol and Boomerang off the air upon the expiration of our current deal," Turner said in a statement.
"Turner has worked diligently for months to come to a fair agreement including multiple extensions and compromises, and its unfortunate that Dish is once again operating in a disruptive manner that takes away networks and programming from their customers," the statement continued. "We are hopeful our counterparts will return to the negotiating table, and well get a deal completed."
Will anyone notice?
About the only one I might miss are Tru and Adult Swim.
I have dish network. Instead of CNN, they put MSNBC on the channel normally occupied by CNN.
Oh darn!
Racists.
I noticed and had a long conversation with 2 different CSR’s yesterday . They blamed Turner in almost the same terms used in this release . Dish also gave me $10 per month off my Dish bill for the next 3 months , whether CNN comes back on or not . So give them a call
That is a philosophical question: If Dish drops channels the nobody watches, did they ever exist?
It has about 10 million subscribers.
where do we encourage them to keep CNN off?
I have Dish...I didn’t even notice until I read this...
I have Dish and already block those channels.
If I had not read this here, I would never had known...
Advertisers. Money is all that talks. Best to dump cable or dish entirely since it all goes to the DNC one way or another.
let Dish know that. No CNN means lower costs.
Has Ted Turner ever paid that billion dollars he pledged to the U.N.?
I have Direct TV. I can only hope that they will follow suit................
The future of television is over the Internet. CNN is the first victim but there will be many others. Death will be slow but it will be certain. Just drip drip drip. Just watch the cable ratings slowly drop. Drop, drop, drop, drip, drip, drip.
The only one I even watched some of the time was TCM.
But the last couple of years they were way short on the kind of movies I liked to watch.
Mike Rowe mentioned this this past week. His bad luck that his new show is on the CNN network.
Bite your tongue-—no Tru Tv, no “Impractical Jokers!”
I wonder how much my bill will decrease.
Does this mean the infernal CNN may disappear from airport gate TVs and hotel breakfast area TVs? That would be a wonderful outcome.
