Autopsy of slain Missouri teen shows close-range gunshot: report
Yahoo News ^ | 22 Oct 2014 | Reuters

(Reuters) - A newly disclosed autopsy of the unarmed black teenager whose killing by a white police officer set off months of protests in Ferguson, Missouri, suggests he suffered a gunshot to the hand from close range, the St. Louis Post Dispatch reported.

The St. Louis County medical examiner's autopsy of 18-year-old Michael Brown, obtained by the newspaper and published online late on Tuesday, said a microscopic examination of his hand tissue showed particles "consistent with products that are discharged from the barrel of a firearm."

Forensic experts interviewed by the newspaper said the material indicated Brown's hand was close to officer Darren Wilson's weapon when Brown was shot Aug. 9. However, the autopsy noted there was no "powder stipple," or residue often left by guns fired at close range.

Reuters could not immediately verify the report. Representatives for the St. Louis County Office of the Medical Examiner could not be reached early on Wednesday.

Police and witnesses have said that Brown was first shot during a struggle with Wilson at the officer's vehicle and then fatally shot after fleeing.

The medical examiner's autopsy revealed that Brown had THC, the main psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, in his system when he was killed. An expert quoted by the Post Dispatch said he "may or may not have been impaired."

What was Brown’s intention in taking the officer’s weapon? Anyone care to answer that?

These reports coming out showing what the grand jury has been seeing, are devastating to the narrative that a young black man was shot by a racist white cop for no reason.

I would be surprised if there is an indictment at all.

And if there is no indictment, look for the racial grievance rabble rousers to take to the streets again.

And then look for pressures for the governor to appoint a special prosecutor to do an indictment.

That’s what happened in the case of Trayvon and Zimmerman. Initially, law enforcement saw no evidence to charge Zimmerman with anything. It was a special prosecutor in Florida who brought the indictment against Zimmerman, not a grand jury, not the local DA. And it was due to pressures from the race grievance people. The same could happen here.

Liberals will probably say that Brown was afraid of getting shot, so he went for the gun out of self defense.

Perhaps because all the shots were at close range,

That would disprove the claims that kept shooting as Brown tried o surrender

I have wondered why Eric Holder, likely approved by Obama, decided to do his own investigation. How often does the federal Justice Department get involved in the preliminary stages of a shooting investigation??? Would that have happened if not for it being a white cop/black victim shooting??? Would Eric Holder have stuck his nose into this, if the race/ethnicity of those involved had been any other combination????

Saw on FOX this morning where Ferguson is being used by the Dems to try to get out the black vote. Holder, Sharpton, et al were in Ferguson to gin up racial issues for just this purpose, IMO.

Evidence is irrelevant.

I fully expect that the officer will be indicted and tried. That is why the Department of “Justice” is there to make sure that it is done.

All of the evidence showed the George Zimmerman was defending himself from an attack, but he still got charged and tried.

There is nothing like a good show trial to keep the racial flames burning. Plus it makes it a lot harder for the Race Industry to extract a multi-million dollar settlement if the officer is not indicted.

So what if the officer’s life is ruined? What does one white cop matter? All that matters is the narrative.

Grossly misleading, slanted and biased article that has deliberately left out substantial information:

From New York Times:

” The police officer who fatally shot Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., two months ago has told investigators that he was pinned in his vehicle and in fear for his life as he struggled over his gun with Mr. Brown, according to government officials briefed on the federal civil rights investigation into the matter.

The officer, Darren Wilson, has told the authorities that during the scuffle, Mr. Brown reached for the gun. It was fired twice in the car, according to forensics tests performed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The first bullet struck Mr. Brown in the arm; the second bullet missed.

The forensics tests showed Mr. Brown’s blood on the gun, as well as on the interior door panel and on Officer Wilson’s uniform. Officer Wilson told the authorities that Mr. Brown had punched and scratched him repeatedly, leaving swelling on his face and cuts on his neck.

According to the New York Times, Wilson told authorities that he fought with Brown for possession of his service pistol, resulting in two rounds fired inside his police vehicle. One round struck Brown in the arm, and the other was wasted.

Importantly, Brown’s blood was found on the gun by forensics analysis, as well as on the inside of the police vehicle, confirming his presence in the vehicle and the weapon.

Wilson said that Brown punched and scratched him numerous times, causing abrasions and swelling to his face and neck.

The officials briefed on the case said the forensic evidence gathered in the car lent credence to Officer Wilson’s version of events. According to his account, he was trying to leave his vehicle when Mr. Brown pushed him back in. Once inside the S.U.V., the two began to fight, Officer Wilson told investigators, and he removed his gun from the holster on his right hip.

Chief Jon Belmar of the St. Louis County Police Department has said in interviews that Officer Wilson was “pushed back into the car” by Mr. Brown and “physically assaulted.” “

Brown must of been in an instruction frame of mind, and wanted to brief Wilson on how to handle the weapon.

This article’s information is at odds with the autopsy results. Here it is stated that the stipple is related to close range wounds so seems its absence conflicts with the officers version of events.

However, from the Daily Mail’s quote from the autopsy report, “Evidence presented by the Post-Dispatch from the autopsy report also seems to support a close-range impact. The document told how the entry wound in Brown’s hand had no ‘stippling’ - a feature of mid-range impacts - suggesting a point-blank release. “

Is someone playing games with the facts to promote an agenda?

I’m just as interested in hearing the other half of the statement regarding the shooting outside the car. I don’t believe a single word of the witness statements, and they are all over the map and most of them have a horse in this race. I haven’t been reading a lot about this, but I seem to remember information saying all the entry wounds were on the arms or the front of the body/head but have no idea how accurate that info is. Half the story is still missing, but it’s not looking good for Brown at this point

Which autopsy? There were at least two and maybe three.
The one the family had done was by someone who is not even a qualified patholgist, although they did have Michael Baden there to give it credibility.

I doubt if we had any info released from the original autopsy until now.

Seem to be missing the point about the stippling. Is the lack of it evidence of close range entry or not. One supports the officer’s version, the other supports the ‘witnesses’ versions of events.

Which confirms the cops story that Brown tried to take his weapon and kill him with it.

The more evidence that gets revealed the more obvious it becomes that this was a legitimate self defense shoot.
