From patron saint to pariah: how Barack Obama became toxic for Democrats
UK Telegraph ^ | October 21, 2014 | By Peter Foster

It has been a stunning reversal of fortunes for Mr Obama, whose celebrity status helped get Democrats elected in several Republican states in 2008 – states which the party is now desperately struggling to defend.

With less than two weeks to go until the November 4 polling day, we track the travails of the man who once walked on political water.

Indeed, so toxic has Mr Obama’s name apparently become that when Ms Lundergan Grimes was asked if she had ever actually voted for Mr Obama, the 35-year-old lawyer declined to answer.

The president’s sheen may have faded for the ordinary Joe, but in Hollywood he still sets some hearts a-fluttering. “You’re so handsome that I can’t speak properly,” gushed Gwyneth Paltrow as she introduced Mr Obama to guests at her home in Los Angeles.

Cue sounds of retching on the Conservative right.

A recently leaked memo by a former Obama pollster predicted “crushing losses” if Democrats failed to mobilise the black vote – but also found that half of black Americans did not even know when elections were taking place.

A situation not helped by the fact that the man with unrivalled power to turn out the black vote has been all but invisible out on the campaign trail.

The American people were so thrilled, delighted, and dazzled to have a President of African descent that they didn’t look any further than that.

Not that this would ever be acknowledged by any of the drones in the MSM, but Obama has turned out to be all of the things we evil conservatives warned about. But it’s not that libs cannot admit that they were wrong, they cannot admit when WE were right.

He may have looked like the real deal to reality detached voters in 2008 — but by 2012 his shortcomings were well established, and nobody who voted for him has any excuse for doing so.

I do wonder if we’re being set up for a massive surprise at the ballot box. Remember, polls had Romney winning too and many of these polls I see are inside the margin. You have to remember that fraud votes usually don’t poll very well and there is a massive influx of illegal immigrants and election funny tricks to throw off the results.

The bottom line, do not be lax in voting. Show up and vote. Don’t assume others who agree with you will vote.

Why is it we have to go to a British newspaper to get objective news reporting about this presidency? Of course we know the answer to that. I bet the english versions of overseas news websites get a huge amount of American readership.

Very true, and the Democrats fought tooth and nail in places like Wisconsin and Texas against voter ID implementation. I share your worries too.

He's no more a pariah now than he was the day he was elected.

Now that he won't be running again the media must associate public dissatisfaction with Obama personally. That way they can continue to support the same policies after he's gone.

I’ll not be lax in voting especially to get mary landrieu out of office and of course, a moral and able president even if I have to vote twice and my dead mother votes! Not really, we don’t do that any longer in Louisiana. OK, at least I don’t!

After the November election, it will even be worse. Dems will shun him as they seek out a candidate for 2016.

His ego will be bruised, as he no longer is the center of attention.

However, he will still, if not more so, be dangerous politically. As a lame, lame duck, he and his czars will continue to ‘fundamentally change America’.

==

Pubbies will need a strong candidate to stop that fundamental changing, assuming they win the presidency in 2016. However, most of the wannabes who have hinted at running are just not of the calibre to do more than occupy the Oval Office for the next four years.

The Pubbies need a strong leader but they will probably only get a Bush or Romneyrepeat or a Hucksterby and the status quo after Obama will remain and be furthered.

Whatever. It’s election season shananigans. Bet your last dollar that every single last one of them will come running if the Repubs ever would do the right thing and impeach his sorry behind.

When pride comes, then comes shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Yup. Both of which describe Obama to a T.

His fall from grace was the result of his own doing.

If he’s lonely, he now knows how Bush felt in October 2006.

Welcome to the club.
