Karl Rove: Weapon of Mass Delusion

So Karl Rove was involved in a cover-up. Well, leave it to Karl -- the “boy genius” and the “architect” -- to orchestrate a cover-up that actually hides information exculpatory to his President and his party. He did just that on the issue of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) in Iraq. This is not an outlier either -- this is just Rove being Rove. And ‘Rove being Rove’ has sown the seeds of destruction that gave us Barack Obama in 2008, and again in 2012, and has scattered political germs that still haunt Republicans to this day. This goes back to late 2000 in fact. More on that later.

So in case you missed it, the New York Times ran an eight part expose on WMDs and The Daily Beast ran a well-sourced piece entitled Insiders Blame Rove for Covering Up Iraq’s Real WMDs that chronicles a Rove-inspired cover up. You might remember the little kerfuffle the nation got into when ostensibly no weapons were found? You know, “Bush lied, people died” and all of that? It helped run George W. Bush’s administration right into the ground, and he took the Republican brand with him. Yes, Hurricane Katrina was a major factor too, but again, that was related to ‘Rove being Rove’ as well -- and more on that later, too.

The WMD issue was one of the major public relations snafus of the Bush Administration, and the whole effort in the War on Terror. And the costs of these mistakes are catastrophic and still mounting.

Well, when you've got a guy who makes his millions selling the notion that elections are all about winning the one percent of voters who are on the 50 yard line, it only makes sense that he would do all he can to discredit his own party and the President he serves if it keeps things teetering juuuust... right.

I mean, a guy's gotta look out for his own interests, right? Ayn Rand and all that?

Now all Karl has to help out with is rounding up all those RINOs to go along with 0 and those 30M new Democrat voters and he'll really be set as Judas goat to a new permanent minority party.

What a guy... Hannity's good buddy, The Architect.

Rove is to the GOP like General Mark Clark was to the US army in WW2.

And this was the mystery that many, many of us wondered about years ago, and at the time of the actual events. That is, why did Bush sit back and consistently allow the Left to hurl these lies and invectives without any response whatsoever!

Well, if Rove is indeed the architect of this disastrous and illogical position, then he deserves al the scorn and ridicule possible. Moreover, I do not absolve Bush, or Cheney for that matter, of responsibility here. They should have seen the utter and ongoing disaster this was as it was unfolding. Certainly the rest of Conservatives across the country saw it, and felt it!

The author is exactly correct. Rove, et. al., are the architects of the destruction of the Republican brand. A destructiveness so utterly complete that I seriously question whether there will ever be recovery on a national level in my lifetime.

FReeper here saw these errors as they were unfolding. People were screaming, “Do something!”, Say something!” “Fight back!”

The Republican Party is not George Bush. It is not Karl Rove. They merely borrow the Party mantle. Yet they took the Party mantle and carelessly trashed it, rubbed it in the ground, and in that regard, literally spat on many fine American Conservatives.

And here we are.

Let me commend you once again for trying to expose the damage that Karl Rove has done to not only the Republican Party, but to the yet more important Conservative cause and, ultimately, to our very future as a free people.

I have been trying to expose the man's combination of arrogance with a very serious analytic deficit, since he grossly mismanaged the 2000 Republican campaign. However, he continues to succeed in convincing the susceptible, that he is some sort of political genius.

For more on the subject, see 2006--Rove Directed Republican Disaster; or Karl Rove--Revisited, or the other articles on Rove, linked thereto.

With faux experts like Rove, wasting $100s of millions of Conservative donations, it is not surprising that we are in the present mess. We may never get out, if he is allowed to continue in any major role. The man is no more of an expert in political strategy, than he is in the social values that made America.

Good post.

Coverup ... and theft.
Rove/TeamRomney pocketed all the money, leaving workers
stranded, less than 9 nanoseconds after Romney gave up
(election eve; after he actually gave up weeks earlier,
expecting only his coronation).

They also withheld money from women they declared
to be ‘witches’.
