Washington (AFP) - With no new Ebola cases in five days, US authorities were cautious but hopeful that the virus has been contained in the United States after a flawed response revealed shortcomings in the system.
The fiancee of a Liberian man who died of Ebola earlier this month in Dallas, Texas was among nearly 50 people who emerged from three weeks of quarantine without any signs of illness from exposure to the virus that has killed more than 4,500 in West Africa since the beginning of this year.

Yeah, no
REPORTS of ebola.
Nice investigative digging there, "journalists" of America.
To: Jeff Chandler
Not sure if we will ever see the end of it.
In Africa, this constitutes a major outbreak. They haven’t been able to isolate the victims, hell, they haven’t even identified them.
It might go on until nearly all are either immune, immunized by exposure, or dead. Literally.
In America it is much easier to say “It’s over!”, but that can ONLY be done with a travel ban.

Still wondering why Nurses in protective gear got the disease, and Duncan’s family were untouched.

Hopefully it is contained but will not remain so without a travel ban, this could be the calm before the storm.

I truly hope that we have "dodged the bullet" brought over by our Liberian friend, Duncan. However...
The pessimist in me offers 2 depressing arguments that I cannot just dismiss...
(1) If we really have skated through this episode, I fear the "people in charge" will take the wrong lesson from this, saying, "See, we TOLD you it was hard to catch." and let the floodgates of Ebola immigrants open up.
(2) If Ebola has spread due to our wayward bride, and we are just in a "lull" between exposure and symptoms, or we are in a "news blackout", then Hell's about to pop in a week or two.
I wish I could be more optimistic.
