Congress undid Posse Comitatus during GWB’s administration. He signed the legislation but never used the extra powers granted by Congress. I thought signing this legislation was foolish as it gave future presidents the power to do whatever they liked with the military. But I think Bush badly wanted the rest of the legislation and everything he did had to be negotiated with the pure evil of a Democratic Congress..
I don’t think that is correct. A separate law was passed under GWB that granted more powers but I don’t think PC was ever repealed. Then, the law that was passed during the Bush administration was repealed. Obama has since passed a different law, but again, it doesn’t repeal PC, just creates some exception.
