Oh, that is too bad about Sprouts for you. Sprouts has the best prices for the best quality on produce and meat around. I refuse to eat WalMart meat and the other grocers are way too expensive.
We also have Lucky’s here. Little more upscale from Sprouts, but not Whole Foods.
I beat Sprouts vegetable prices with sales leaders for some items, and a Middle Eastern market for routine low prices on vegetable staples.
Whole Foods is an experience, for people with an average income or lower, it is like visiting Neiman Marcus, you aren’t there to buy but to marvel at the incredibly high prices.
” a Middle Eastern market for routine low prices on vegetable staples.”

Interesting—there is one near me,very busy, and I’ve never gone in.
Must try it.
.
Whole Foods is fun.
Working full time and running a business on the side, I have to average my savings. Sprouts are everywhere here, never far from one. But you are right, there is this massive Oriental grocer in south Denver that has the best prices and best produce hands down. But, it is a couple of hours out of my way.
We go there from time to time for the experience.
I’d guess that they’ll up the pay rate from the minimum wage but drop insurance benefits.. thus putting employees on their own to buy their own insurance outside of Walmart.
20 cents an hour raise for each year ?
Horrible.
.
Part of my savings is that I never drive TO the 5 various stores where I shop, I stop at them as I am passing by, just like buying gasoline, I don’t drive the 6 miles there to save the pennies, I just fill up on the day that I’m going past it.
A Middle Eastern market can be the best place for decent coffee beans at a best price, bulk tea, and sometimes things like fresh dill.
I guess that in some stores an item (fresh dill and dark roasted coffee beans for instance) is a high profit item, while in some ethnic stores it is the basic staple that their customer base comes there for, that is why ethnic markets are always worth investigating.
Another good example is Asian markets, they are so much cheaper on Coconut milk and fish sauce etc., than a Albertson’s.
Yeah, hence sprouts for us. It is relatively close to us no matter where we are
We have Winn Dixie, but as I said their prices are way higher than Wally World. I am amazed the stores are still open as you rarely see more than 10 cars out front and you go to Walmart and have to walk 300 yards from the parking space to the store it is so crowded.
We have a JC Penny store and a Sears at the Mall in the town 20 miles from our small town. Both are dumps. You go into Sears and it looks like a going out of business sale. Nothing on the few racks they have. You cannot purchase a man’s sports jacket in it because there are none. The womens ware has 100 times more than the mens. If not for the tools, lawn equipment, the store would be empty. I have heard that Sears may shut the store because of its lack of business. JCPenny has done poorly around here since the homo took over running it, and has changed their pricing system. People around here said the heck with Pennys and don’t go there. There is a Belks store. It does very well.
Some stores are 100 to 200% higher than some prices at Walmart.
For instance $2.29 for Tabasco sauce versus 99cents, it is amazing.
Yup. We stopped by Winn Dixie one day on the rush and wanted to avoid the mob at Walmart. My wife ran in to get a couple of things and came back out and said to just take her to Walmart. She said the item she wanted to get was like $3.50 higher at WM. So I drove the mile up the road and let her out at the door, parked down where I could see her come out. She was in there 30 minutes standing in the danged line before she finally came out with two or three items.
I don’t understand how people can spend $20.00 and $60.00 more per grocery cart, without feeling like suckers.
Sorry, sir. I'll take my gruel bowl away and won't ask for any more.
Yup. We know a woman at church that absolutely hates Walmart and will not even go into the store. She shops at Winn Dixie and her grocery bill is $100+ more than if she just went to WM. She told us she did not care how much more it costs, she ain’t going to Walmart and shop. Crazy. I have to eat, but why would I want to pay $6.00 for something that I can get in another store for $3.00.
Good, you pheasant!!!
