Tippecanoe Co. Health Dept: Patient being checked for Ebola-like symptoms (Lafayette, IN)

The Tippecanoe County Health Department told News 18 that an individual was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette with possible Ebola-like symptoms.

Health Officer Dr. Jeremy Adler with the county health department said a person was taken to Indiana University Health Arnett with possible symptoms consistent with Ebola. Adler said that evaluation is underway and it could take several hours before results are determined.

Adler said there has been no confirmation of Ebola. He does not know anything about this individual — where they came from or what time they were admitted.

According to Adler, the only people treating the person are the doctors and nurses at IU Health

Sounds as if local officials are trying to downplay it.

Purdue University has a HUGE Foreign Student population, including many from Africa, on US-Funded scholarships.

Betcha everyone that gets flu systems this season will be running to the Emergency Rooms just to be on the safe side.

My youngest is a student at Purdue. Hope this is a false alarm. And yes, everyone with the flu is headed to the ER this winter.
