Protesters flooded the streets of Philadelphia on Thursday to protest the School Reform Commission’s recent decision to cancel the teachers’ union contract.

Officials say the move will require members to pay into their medical plan and should save the School District of Philadelphia about $50 million a year.

But parents, teachers and even students reportedly joined forces to protest the decision, where they completely blocked off Broad Street, where the SRC is scheduled to meet on Thursday night.

Easy solution would be vouchers. Government role in education should be very very limited.

I believe in this case it is jetsam.

Jetsam is part of a ship, its equipment, or its cargo that is purposely cast overboard or jettisoned to lighten the load in time of distress and that sinks or is washed ashore

Those teachers kept screaming in the microphones that they’ve “suffered enough”.

In Philadelphia school district, teachers don’t pay any money into their healthcare. Yet year after year they want more $$$$$ money for schools and better healthcare benefits. That means Jack and Jill will have to pay higher taxes “For The Children”.

It is really hard to work up any sympathy for them. In fact, I feel zero zip zilch nada sympathy for them.

The teachers pay nothing for their healthcare, have amazing pensions with medical, cannot be fired and....

Only about half the students even graduate.

The Philadelphia school district is bankrupt and the teacher’s union thinks they are suffering...
