I drove by the house in Dallas this summer, that was built by my grandparents and moved into in 1938...Slowly adding on as Dad, his brothers and sister grew up and moved on...

Before my Grandmother passed, I was lucky to have already had her “give” me a few things to remember the house, and them after she was gone...How fortunate, I suppose...

It was a simple thing that brought back memories I’ll never forget...

It was a cast iron, grill cheese sandwich maker you put the stuff in and on a stove top “burner” in the kitchen...While the other “cousins” and aunts and uncles divvied up a bunch of “stuff” some of very nice value, I kept my ambitions simple...

Something my grandmother seemed pleased, and thought very wise as she told a few of my other family members about my choice...

I keep it near my wood burning stove, and see it almost every day as I pass by when I start my day, and kill the lights as I retire for the evening...

Even though we eventually stand to gain a lot thru inheritance from my Dad and the part of the family estate he received...I’m not much worried about numbers, or tracts of land, or other accoutrements...

That little “Toast-Tite” device is something I plan to give to someone, down the line in the family, because of its importance...

Its really the simple stuff that makes the biggest impact on our lives...I wish more people (even some in my family now) would realize first and foremost...
