Israeli drug companies, such as Teva, are pretty good at producing imitation drugs quickly. Teva was truly disruptive to big pharma companies, since they often feared blockbuster drugs going off patent as Teva was ready and waiting with a quality generic imitation.
It’s not so surprising that what is bad for big pharma is good for the patient and the consumer, and now an Israeli biotech company named Protalix is ready to replenish supplies of the experimental Ebola vaccine, ZMapp.
The disease has already claimed the lives of 3,944, predominantly in Africa, but in the U.S., there has been one casualty and another one infected. The World Health Organization hoped to have a vaccine by November, but even if ZMapp can be available by the target date, supplies will be insufficient to meet requirements. However, the Times of Israel reports that Protalix can step in and produce as much ZMapp as is needed. In an interview with Channel 2, executive vice president of research and development at Protalix, Yossie Shaaltiel, said, “Today, our production capacity exceeds our needs, and we would certainly be happy to have our company produce the Ebola drug for them. We know how to do it effectively, in large quantities and in a relatively short period of time.”
I have a feeling BDS is going to be strangely silent about this outrage.
ZMapp is not a vaccine. It’s a treatment, after the fact, if you are infected.
Do journalists just not understand basic scientific terminology?

At best people can get transfused with antibodies from survivors but its not a cure or even prevention - its a palliative.
Hope is not a strategy.

Scientists working on Ebola treatments may soon be looking to Israeli-owned pharmaceutical company CollPlant, reports the Times of Israel.
The company uses tobacco plants to manufacture human proteins, which are used in Zmapp, the only Ebola treatment on the horizon.
The company’s founder, Oded Shoseyov, is optimistic that CollPlant could assist in curbing the spread of the deadly virus. “We didn’t invent the method, but we have taken it farther than anyone else,” he told the newspaper.
“Journalists” use idiotic terms like “big pharma” ... people who use terms like that usually aren’t too bright.

Yes but tobacco is evil. So it is better to not grow tobacco than to develop treatments based on tobacco plant compounds. (Gosh, I feel good about myself....)
None of that cut/paste makes ZMapp a ‘vaccine’.
It’s a treatment.
It works AFTER you’ve been infected. Vaccines work BEFORE you’ve got active infection.
Totally different things.
Obama and Progressives hate the former and love the latter.
I hope they are smart enough to have the form to apply for a shot include this question: Religion? and then give a shot of sugar water to all Mohammedans and all atheists. Doing so will make the world a much better place if the vaccine works.
I like seeing Teva on my prescription containers.
The US is just as good at Mass Production. Can easily match and top this with an Øbola Ready to Mass Produce Ebola.
Zmapp is a combination of three Ebola antibodies that is produced in tobacco plants. Other plants could be used, tobacco is however a good choice...
There are no tobacco products in the produced Zmapp.
(i.e. no nicotine) The tobacco plants are just manipulated into manufacturing the antibodies.
Israel should require other countries to give full recognition of Jerusalem as their capital before allowing them to buy this.

Needless to say infected boycotters will take the drug, while discouraging others.
