Not All Catholic Bishops Onboard With Positive Language Toward Same-Sex Couples in Synod Report

Pope Francis leads the synod of bishops in Paul VI's hall at the Vatican October 6, 2014. Pope Francis opened a global Roman Catholic assembly on Sunday showing his apparent irritation with Church leaders who have waged a sometimes bitter public battle between progressives and conservatives on family issues.

A recently released midterm report from the Synod of Bishops on the family, which defended the traditional definition of marriage but used positive language towards same-sex couples in some situations, has garnered controversy among some bishops who say it does not accurately reflect the assembly's views.

"In regard to homosexuality, there was noted the need for welcoming, with the right degree of prudence, so as not to create the impression of a positive valuation of that orientation," read the summary of the remarks some bishops had towards the report, Catholic News Service [link at URL] reported. "It was hoped that the same care would be taken in regard to cohabitation."

The mid-term report [link at URL] earlier this week ruled out changes to the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman, but said that the Synod bishops are working with the concept that gay people have "gifts and qualities" to offer the church.

"Without denying the moral problems connected to homosexual unions, it has to be noted that there are cases in which mutual aid to the point of sacrifice constitutes a precious support in the life of the partners," the Synod summary reportedly said.

How long before it is said by them that "...it has to be noted that there are cases in which mutual aid to the point of sacrifice constitutes a precious support in the life of the [cohabiting] heterosexual partners."? Or will it take longer to hear this in comparison to the aforementioned?

Bishops? Really? Koran snuggling and kissing Bishops? Pope? Really? Homos in drag waltzing down the aisle between the pews of the faithful? Really?

Gold and scarlet bedecked partakers of the vows of poverty and chastity? Really?

We are under assault by a Satanic worldwide cult of murderous violent and utterly depraved beasts who wish only our deaths and submission and we are playing footsie with the queers? Really?

I am sure glad that the “churches” including the catholic pederasts in their flowing gowns are looking out for me.

Perhaps they would all do better to quit, acquaint themselves with the scriptures, for once, and STFU otherwise.

Gee that was harsh. I meant every word of it.

With all due respect to Pope Francis, he appears to be “leading” the Church from the rear.

Are the misguided Catholic Bishops concerned about losing collection plate revenues as a consequence of obeying Jesus’ zero-tolerance teaching about not fellowshipping with unrepentant sinners?

Matthew 18:15-17 shows that Jesus taught (paraphrased) that a congregation is to ultimately tell unrepentant sinners not to let the door hit them on their way out of the church.

In fact, not only does 1 Corinthians 5 show us that Paul reprimanded the church at Corinth for tolerating fellowship with a sexual offender (things evidently haven’t changed after 2000 years), but 1 Corinthians 5:11 tells Christians not even to eat with such people.

"Thou shalt not commit adultery"

So simple even *I* can understand it.

A number of so called "Christian" denominations have,in recent years, rejected the Ten Commandments and replaced them with the "Nine Suggestions"...and it looks like the Catholic Church is about to follow suit.

Include me out.

I certainly don’t agree with the middle-of-the-road approach the RCC is apparently starting down on this, but, I wonder, if someone is engaging in adultery, fornication, etcetera, should any church tell them that they can never come back to church and attend service(s) to listen to the message even if they have not repented?

If somebody repents and asks for forgiveness as indicated by Matthew 18:21-22, as opposed to going into “womanly indignation” mode, insisting that their sinful practice is just a “little old sin” as opposed to evil, then Jesus used the expression to forgive them seventy-seven times.

But I don’t see unrepentant sinners necessarily taking an interest in a church again after being confronted by a congregation. After such a confrontation unrepentant sinners at least know that they aren’t fooling anybody.

Is the Catholic Church attempting to be politically correct or is it asking Catholics to forget there is a problem with homo priests. This sounds like some older bishops looking for forgiveness. Sorry, I don’t forgive pedophiles even the ones wearing priest robes.

Count me out.

I was talking to my priest about this today.

He I really upset that they allowed the media to get information about the Synod while it was in conference. The media is putting their own left wing spin on the whole thing.
