No to hijack this thread, but I would say the Constitution crumbled in about 1865.

It’s a piece of paper (or parchment). Once our society and by extension our government stopped revering it, it became impotent.

Another of our Founding Fathers: John Adams wrote “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” We live in a country that murders nearly a million babies for “Freedom of Choice”, so the morality of the overall people has been on the downside for quite some time. As long as such actions are considered okay, the Constitution is going to be worthless.
