Navy sailors distrust commanders, fear crippling political correctness

Complain of zero-tolerance disciplinary environment, excessive political correctness

Navy sailors harbor “widespread mistrust” in the admirals who command them, complaining of poor leadership and a disciplinary environment that tolerates absolutely no mistakes, says a survey of the fleet.

The disgruntlement runs deepest in the officer corps, where scores of commanders have been relieved of duty in recent years.

“Senior leadership should stop proactively highlighting the reliefs for cause of commanding officers, command master chiefs, and other senior enlisted advisors,” said the report “2014 Navy Retention Study.” “What was originally intended to demonstrate accountability to the public has, instead, resulted in a significant breach of trust with our sailors and resulting in an almost ‘reality TV’ mentality.”

The independent survey was released amid complaints by some aviators about excessive political correctness as the military seeks to stamp out sexual harassment and misconduct in an increasingly gender-integrated Navy.

“Most troubling is the perception sailors hold of senior leadership,” the report says under the heading “Widespread Distrust of Senior Leadership.”

“Sailors feel strongly about their distrust of senior leadership, and believe the Navy has a significant risk-averse culture and zero-defect mentality,” the report says. “Officers in particular hold an incredibly negative view of the current state of affairs, with vast majorities decrying the overwhelming perception of a risk averse and zero-defect mentality culture.”

In more common parlance, Obama is f*cking up the military - and the American capacity to defeat America’s enemies.

Just as bad, our enemies are often our previous friends (Israel) and our current ‘friends’ are our most virulent enemies.

Thus, Obama has stood everything on its head.

God forbid there is a serious war with this senior officers in charge, i.e., bootlickers and asskissers of the Obama Administration. Never thought I’d see the day. At least the rank and file remain normal, patriotic and traditional, for now. A revolution is simmering folks, time to turn the heat up in a couple of weeks with this coming election. Get out there and vote, even if you have to hold your nose.

When you have a bad boss you tend to focus on the boss instead of your department. A manager is there to make certain his department functions perfectly and he’s always asking “what do you need to do your job?” He takes care of his employees. But if the manager’s boss is arbitrary and capricious the manager focuses on keeping the boss happy at the expense of his department. The manager tends to preemptively punish those below him to prove his loyalty to the boss and to deflect blame to somebody lower. I believe this is the situation we’re seeing here. I don’t know how to get around it as the managers must do this or they get fired. That’s the nature of having a bad boss. In this case Obama is the boss. Elections have consequences and I think an emasculated and demoralized military was one of Obama’s goals.

Officers and enlisted personal should just leave the service when their enlistment ends. This is the military the majority voted for in the last election.

Discipline should never be about PR. Discipline should be based on individual merits only, and its abuse for political advancement justifies the resulting distrust.

The independent survey was released amid complaints by some aviators about excessive political correctness as the military seeks to stamp out sexual harassment and misconduct in an increasingly gender-integrated Navy.

I have a close relative who is O-4 in the Navy. He told me they treat every male as a serial rapist, especially in sexual harassment classes everyone has to take. All the participants must make believe they seriously care about what the moderator has to say. This makes the entire exercise a farce.

Still, political correctness and liberalism makes most of living a farce.

This relative has also told me that the mid-level officers in his command have been berated in groups for incompetence with zero objective yardsticks applied i.e. they are told they are doing it wrong without ever hearing what is wrong or what is right, for that matter.

I suggested when he is ever in a spot to correct any of that, he should plan to. He said he assumed the senior command around him was taught the same things he is being taught, that political correctness is far more important than anything else.

He has experienced the sexual nonsense at every command to date.

With them in charge, give me Henry Blake or Sherman Potter if you can get him.

Granted I did 4 active navy and some reserves and army guard from 89-95 in one form or another but the political correctness and other silliness was very apparent then.

Due to someone else going UA and getting kicked out that was going to be my replacement, I was told point blank I could forget going anywhere if I re-upped. Two more years exactly as I was with no hopes of much of anything. I was the last of the experienced ones in my division. Off I went....

Zero defect now means you have to promote the defective or face the consequences.

We spend more time promoting sexual assault awareness than military doctrine and yet they never address the rampant rise in homosexual assaults. Christians are seeing their rights eroded, while Muslims are politically exempt from any scrutiny. Good officers are fighting two wars—one against the enemy overseas and a silent war against the enemies of American values.

Homosexuals in the military was never about gays serving; it was always about changing Federal law and usurping the Ninth and Tenth Amendments (and abridging the First for good measure). The never-ending GWOT has created a class of senior officers who view the ME as equivalent to American culture. It is a crazy, upside-down world right now. If things don’t change drastically, there will be no place safe for Americans to express their once treasured freedoms.

Welcome to the fundamental transformation of America, folks.

Now our sailors, Marines, soldiers, and airmen are boing surrounded by perverts and homos. Now, they are beholden to making some homo feel good about himself rather than do their duty and defend the nation. Soon, they will have to cater to cross dressing butchered transgendered before they honor their service oath.

I’ve made some stupid choices in my life.

Passing up a Congressional appointment to USNA wasn’t one of them.

Back in about 1980 I was stationed in Hawaii. Our company never had a single racial or sexual complaint. Everyone got along. Department of the Army thought it suspicious and sent a team to check us out. They dug deep and talked with individuals in the company, they came up with nothing. They found out that over half the company were either married to or dating a person of a different race.
At the debrief they had nothing to say. They seemed very disappointed.

Although I only rose to the lofty rank of SP5 when I was in it seems to me that even for an officer this attitude just might be a career killer...or worse. One letter of reprimand in his 201 file would probably mean, under today's "up or out" policy hat when promotion time comes he'd be out...perhaps without a pension (depending in his length of service).

Political officers controlling the armed forces--it's happened before. In Stalinist Russia, the competence of the officer corps was severely diminished by purges in the decade before the Germans attacked. The country paid heavily in blood for this unpreparedness.
