Sen. Ted Cruz called Tuesday for a ban on travelers from West African countries grappling with Ebola.
“Common sense dictates that we should impose a travel ban on commercial airline flights from nations afflicted by Ebola,” he said by phone from Texas. "There’s no reason to allow ongoing commercial air traffic out of those countries.”

Unfortunately common sense is unheard of these days.
I have spoken to others who disagree with this, but for the time being, I fully support it.
We’ve got people popping up all over being tested now.
We can put and end to that sort of thing in short order if we have the will to do it.
We need to start having protests demanding it.

1) Political Correctness - Imagine the leftist media orgy about that “racist” airline that wants black people to die because of profits?
2) $$$$ - International flights can be EXTREMELY profitable, especially when the competition is cutting back.
People book these flights as much as a year in advance, and rebooking can cost big bucks. Crews and aircraft are already budgeted.
To pull a long-haul Intl flight means as many as three VERY expensive assets could be sitting on the ground, making nothing. Finding new markets for them is a VERY expensive proposition.
Whatever.

Disagree. Now you can step up procedures, but this isn’t a highly contagious disease. Why not ban for the flu which will kill more? Also, areas of Nations are different and all flights are not created equal. You may also cause MORE problems by banning than you solve.

If you can contain the flu in a small geographic area and it is killing people, we should do so.
It is far easier and safer to contain and treat in a small geographic area than to let it migrate internationally. Only someone who is destructive would import it intentionally to their country, as the hero of benghazi and the cdc have done with Ebola.
