The UN says the ebola outbreak must be controlled within 60 days or else the world faces an "unprecedented" situation for which there is no plan.
The United Nations made the stark warning as it warned that the disease "is running faster than us and it is winning the race".
Nearly 9,000 cases of ebola have been reported so far in West Africa, including 4,447 deaths.
"The WHO advises within 60 days we must ensure 70% of infected people are in a care facility and 70% of burials are done without causing further infection," said Anthony Banbury, the UN's deputy ebola coordinator.
"We need to do that within 60 days from 1 October. If we reach these targets then we can turn this epidemic around."

How many days do we have to beat Stupidity?
Ebola may be the cure for stupiidity
Must be one of those “tipping points” they keep bloviating about.
Send money care of Ban Ki-moon, PO Box FUUN, Seoul, South Korea.
There was never a time when Ebola wasn’t coming to the United States and elsewhere. That became a 100% forgone conclusion since months ago when Ebola hit large-ish cities in Africa.
We had just better hope and pray that hospitals get better at treating and preventing Ebola in health care workers. No doctor I know would knowingly expose themselves to something which would likely kill them and their families.
Doctors honestly do not know why this is passing through to health care workers, and that is scarier than anything else I can imagine. It won’t take too many more nurses and doctors falling ill to make most of the rest refuse to treat Ebola patients.
When it takes 70+ people who are specially trained to treat a few high risk patients, how many can the hospital afford to lose?
Not many.
I think you’re right!
I think instead of sending our uniformed men and women over to fight Ebola, we should send all of our super genius mastermind politicians over there.
One way ticket of course.
These despicable subhumans in the UN would love to see this deliberately placed disease kill our families here in the US. When we heard of the bird flu and others in years past you could jusy see the WHO crouched behind the door sweating rubbing thier hands together with a grin on thier face hoping a pandemic would take hold killing most if not all Americans who with out us would still be sh###ing in holes and eating it. We need to turn this world around and push the cesspool cretans back in and cover it tightly
I agree. Thanks for the comments.
Great! Perhaps you can “teach” these people to alter their diets..
Eye opening video on their fondness of bush meat.. yum /s

I meant the UN ... Not you personally..
But there is a little bit of hope coming from Liberia, but it's unclear if the change is due to the lock downs that Liberia instituted, or because their health system has disintegrated and reporting is now impaired.
The only thing that can save us from Ebola now is ... Catastrophic Climate Change, which according to the UN must be controlled in ... 58 days, or else the world faces an "unprecedented" situation for which there is no plan.
On a more philosophical note, friends, let each one of us be with this: that each ordinary blessed moment is just that, a situation without precedent, for which there is no plan, which the world faces.
May your days be filled with tautology.
If we really only have a month to get to 70% / 70% then we are doomed. Well maybe not us but much of the world.
This may be the line in the sand for the UN. It should have been drawn in August when the physicians on the ground in Sierra Leone said it was out of control then.
The 70% that they discuss isn’t going to do it.
Is sixty days too long to limit travel from affected areas?
QUARANTINE
And this is far more pressing than the phony baloney of “man-made global climate change”.
