"We see an Arctic that is melting, meaning that most likely a new sea lane will emerge," he said. "We know that there are significant minerals and natural deposits of oil and natural gas there. That means that nations will compete for those natural resources. That's never been an issue before. You couldn't get up there and get anything out of there. We have to manage through what those conditions and new realities are going to bring in the way of potential threats."

“”We see an Arctic that is melting, meaning that most likely a new sea lane will emerge,”...”

Well, when the article starts with a complete lie, what can be said?

Any military person who actually believes this obamastuff should be immediately kicked out. I do not want such a mentally challenged incompetent anywhere me if I should have to fly into combat.

Folks, the Obamadork is placing these idiots into high positions.

Be afraid.

Be very afraid.

LOL. This is beyond parody. You know what? Once we figure out how to travel in space economically, we will find planets with minerals on them and it will present military challenges too! That is just about as likely as this nonsense.

The British tried to find a Northwest passage in the nineteenth century. The first expedition got the furthest, and each successive endeavor lost groun..., er, water, as the ice didn't melt as much from the last Winter.

I'm sure it will cycle back to a sea lane, maybe when the Sun begins to enter it's Red Giant phase, around 5 billion years, give or take, in the future.

Travel in space? We don’t do that anymore currently. (Without using the russkies to get us to ISS) Besides which, if you don’t tell anybody, the “real” reason the Shuttle was cancelled was that NASA knew/knows that the launch pads would all be under water soon and they needed the money to work on the muslim outreach program instead. No, really. LOL!

>>The British tried to find a Northwest passage in the nineteenth century. <<

“You couldn’t get up there and get anything out of there.”

Was this written by a 7th grader?

BTW the Russians have managed to get up there, survey and map the place and will definitely be getting “stuff” out of there while we will be watching polar bear huggers protest any US company
