Citing 'devastating consequences,' Minnesota lobbies for Ebola screening at MSP

In order to prevent “devastating consequences,” Minnesota’s leading elected officials on Monday asked U.S. officials to reconsider their decision not to conduct Ebola virus screenings at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

In order to prevent “devastating consequences,” Minnesota’s leading elected officials on Monday requested that the Twin Cities’ airport be added to the short federal list of airports in the United States that are required to conduct screenings for the deadly Ebola virus.

Gov. Mark Dayton and U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken sent a letter to the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that asks U.S. officials to reconsider their decision not to conduct the screenings at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP).

“Our request is that the CDC conduct heightened screenings of all passengers with Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea in their travel history when they arrive at MSP,” Dayton, Klobuchar and Franken said in their letter to CDC Director Tom Frieden. “We hope to work with you to do everything we can to prevent the disease from spreading to Minnesota.”

This is the same state, mind you, happy to be colonized by Somali thieves and layabouts.

Once again, lefties want exemption from the predictably disastrous results of their policies and actions.

An outbreak of Ebola which is happening at the same time we have the worst leadership and government in US history = Absolute disaster. Do we even have to guess that a few months from now if not this month we are going to see cases pop up all over the US on a regular basis? Which no doubt will increase until it becomes overwhelming and the dam bursts and we have a full scale pandemic? And no doubt the worst President in US history will be hitting the links just like he is today.

I don’t understand your comment. Would you want Ebola-infected people coming to your town?

No I’m saying that when the chips are down the touchy feely Minnesotans want protection despite their longstanding willingness, until recently, to serve as a magnet for African dole scroungers.

Your argument is incoherent. These are two completely separate issues.

Is a state with a large existing population of Africans more or less likely to serve as a destination for more Africans? Are Africans currently the most likely carriers of the disease? Are airports in Africa renowned for their lax security due to funding, politics, corruption, etc.? Is there any sensible person who believes passengers are being properly screened there?

Are the governor et al correct in asking for screening, prevention etc.? Yes. Are they the same people that, through their previous actions (or lack thereof) increased the likelihood that an Ebola carrier would have Minneapolis as a destination as opposed to Dayton, OH or Ames, IA? Yes again.

I understood you perfectly through the several strands of the thread - the other guy must have some special bug up some special place to make the comments - some folks refuse to be wrong even when it becomes proven fact...

Again you are making an incoherent argument. West Africans are indeed the most likely carriers of Ebola. Somalis are not likely carriers of Ebola. Like I said, these are separate issues.

Could you please explain to me how the issues of Somalis and controlling the spread of Ebola are linked? They are completely separate issues.

I think that has got to be one of the dumbest cartoons ever.

Ebola is a very deadly virus and looks like easily caught with an extremely horrific end. The rest are a choice that for the most part end in a much nicer way(please notice the for the most part) than the melting of organs. You are not going to have a choice about Ebola but you sure heck as do have a choice on the others.

Could you please explain to me what "proven facts" you are referring to? The discussion is proceeding along opinion lines, only. There are no facts in dispute. Unless you are claiming that Somalis are spreading Ebola.

Gov. Dayton and Minnesota’s two Senators, dumb and dumber, obviously have no clue about the ineptitude of TSA screeners or the wrath of Jesse Jackson charging that only screening Africans from Ebola ravaged areas is racist.

Not really. Just putting things into perspective maybe like the Spanish Flu of 1918-1919? Over 18 million dead?

Homosexual behavior and promiscuity are deadly, too, but those are promoted.
