Our response seems to be “ready, fire, aim.”

Glad the Aussies have some common sense.

That’s how you do it. Common sense. We look like a bunch of fools.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Troops fight Ebola. Health workers fight ISIS. Makes sense.

“I do not have in place a guarantee that should an Australian health worker – sent there by the Australian government – contract Ebola, they would be able to be transported or treated in a hospital either in the region or in Europe,” she told reporters in Launceston on Saturday. “And until I have that in place we will not be sending Australian health workers.”

It turns out that there is only one of those special planes for transport, in existence, and it is American owned.

That is another big oversight that we have learned about.

Some Aussies have good sense. Even though they begged for ABBA to come perform on tour and then hated ABBA after they left.

(Now WHY did I think of THAT.)

Have the Austrailians blocked flights and passengers from the affected areas?

Austailia is praising the Austrailian doctors that have gone to West Africa voluntarily to fight the disease. It’s simply refusing to to force doctors to go.

“I do not have in place a guarantee that should an Australian health worker — sent there by the Australian government — contract Ebola, they would be able to be transported or treated in a hospital either in the region or in Europe,” she told reporters.

“And until I have that in place we will not be sending Australian health workers,” she said.

Hate to break it to Australia but that’s kind of the point. If it wasn’t dangerous they wouldn’t need the help. It’s like withholding your firefighters until the fire is contained.
