Kurds tell of battle for Kobani
Daily Hampshire Gazette ^ | Sunday, October 12, 2014 | By RYAN LUCAS

SURUC, Turkey — The shells were already roaring down on the Kurdish fighters from the hill above Kobani when more than 30 Islamic State militants backed by snipers and pickups mounted with heavy machine guns began their assault across the dusty fields.

Holed up in an industrial area of squat, concrete buildings on Kobani’s eastern edges, the outgunned Kurds could do little to repel the attack, recalled Dalil Boras, one of the defenders during the Oct. 6 assault. The Islamic State group’s firepower proved too much, so the Kurds withdrew through the gray streets to a tree-lined park, ceding a foothold in the town to the extremist fighters, who promptly raised two black flags over their newly conquered territory.

A week later, the Kurdish men and women of the People’s Protection Units, or YPG, are still holding out, if barely, with a helping hand from more than 20 airstrikes by the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State positions.

Kurds are tough little fighters. I applaud their bravery.

They have a female commander who seems to be doing a great job of taking it to ISIS.

They all know their fate if they are defeated.

Nothing but Silence from Obozo, after repeated appeals for weapons with which to defend themselves.

Clearly the traitor in chief wants the Kurds dead.

"...more than 30 Islamic State militants backed by snipers and pickups mounted with heavy machine guns began their assault across the dusty fields.'

W(hy)TF aren't we arming these people? That attack could have been completely repulsed with a handful of Mk19s and M2s.

The Turks just announced an agreement to allow their territory to be used to support the fight against ISIS. The price for that agreement was for the U.S. to let Kobani fall.

It appears from all he says, and his actions, and non-actions, that he has thrown in with the terrorists with the black flag.

He was arming them from Benghazi. Giving them shoulder fired anti aircraft weapons.

That was what the CIA annex was doing.

Obozo is total Anti American Vermin.

This is not a failure, he planned it this way. He has consistently done one thing since he was sworn in as POTUS. He supported the WRONG SIDE in every case.

NO exceptions.

ISIS is there to stay. Re-drawing the current map of the M.E. and N. Africa is the plan. Watch that space in coming months and years.

“And again, Congress is mute.”

I’ll be calling my rep. and U.S. Senators to tell them to arm the Kurds. Wish millions of Americans would do that.

Abandon Islam would be the first choice this area needs to make...

The second, would be to choose to establish equal rights and freedoms so the WHOLE society has something to fight for...

And the third, would be to throw away the Arab culture that opposes others through out-of-date controls...

Those 3 issues would unite people - at the moment - since Islam and the Arab mentality are allowed to thrive - this conflict and state of violence will continue!

The fact that Assad and rest of Syrians don’t care what about to Syrian Kurds only encourage them to go full independence. Whats the point of being part of a country that allow you to die and not defend you.
