Democrats who hate right-to-work laws in states that have them deride said laws as right to work for less. You dumbasses! Why would you not join the union when its going to get you more money and protect you from getting fired if you operate machinery drunk and stoned? You dont know whats good for you!
But shockingly to the unions and their political protectors, some people prefer not to become part of the collective. And their judgment tends to be vindicated when we see how the overlords of the collective behave when this happens. You dont want to join the union? Oh youll be sorry. Well see to that.
And one of the UAWs favorite methods of seeing to that is to use very public shame and intimidation. As the Washington Free Beacon reports, that includes the publishing of scab lists where the union publishes the names of those who have exercised their perfectly legal right under right-to-work laws and chosen not to be union members.
The point of this, of course, is not simply to put the names on the web site. Thats just the start. The union wants all its members to be able to identify the scabs so they can be subjected to pressure, intimidation and hazing on the shop floor and around company facilities. Unions are famous for this. If youre a scab, union members will turn their backs and refuse to speak with you. Refuse you access to certain employee facilities. Accidentally/on purpose/oh-sorry-did-I-just-do-that bump into you while passing. The idea is to make life as miserable for you as possible during every moment of the work day, so you ultimately decide to either a) join the union; or b) quit and make room for someone new that the UAW can strongarm into joining.

Isn’t a scab something that covers a wound and helps it heal? Isn’t that a good thing? Someone who does a job that needs doing for a company for pay that others have declined to do? How is that a bad thing?
Only fools don’t know that the labor union racket is just another business.

What is good for the goose is good for the goon. Start a website publishing the name of every union head, his family, where his children go to school, where he lives.
Unions = Extortion
They also don’t know that the minimum wage is there to give union workers higher wages and keep out competition from people willing to work for lower than union wages. Union wages on federal contracts are tied to the minimum wage, so that every time the minimum wage is increased, unions get a raise. The minimum wage is there to help unions and hurt the poor.
But I can only imagine how bad it was when organized crime did most of the enforcement. You're on a scab list, then one night at 1am you get a knock on the door and there's some greasy thug with a baseball bat, commenting on how nice your house is, and what a fine family you have. Wouldn't want anything to happen to 'em, wouldja?
Glad I live in a place where these criminals are largely marginalized.
Prior to the '81 strike, I was one of 8 non-PATCO controllers at Chicago ARTCC (the one that had the recent fire). 14 others walked out, but came back before Reagan's deadline. We fired 465, so yeah, we were shorthanded.
One of the guys bought us all baseball caps he had made up at a county fair, had an airplane on 'em & "SCAB". He had a special one made for me, it had the plane, scrambled eggs and "SUPERSCAB".
I wore it proudly on my strolls by the perimeter fence that was guarded by US Marshals, and manned by at least 100 strikers every day until Christmas.
But yeah, leading up to the strike it was a very unpleasant place to work.
Crazy. I can’t imagine working in that environment. Unions are like a weird cult.
Labor unions are a government sanctioned version of a mafia protection and extortion racket.
