A related pet peeve regarding 1st Class:
why do the airports permit the airlines to set up special a expedited security line for first-class ticket holders?
I fly a often, usually twice a week, I often fly first class, I often fly coach. Security has never treated me differently when I fly first class.
I’m not saying it doesn’t happen somewhere, maybe it does. I just haven’t seen it.
Might you be seeing the pre-check line for those who travel often? That is the only expedited security I’ve seen.
That's not what that is. You are referring to 'TSA Pre-Check' which you apply for and pay about $85 and submit to a background check to use those expedited lines. The airlines and traveling class has nothing to do with it.
I don’t know, as I rarely fly anywhere. I guess the additional cost of first class buys some good perks...unsure. I quit flying years ago...some weird experiences.
Why not? It's a special treatment that one is paying extra for, while still permitting those no-frills travelers who merely want to get from point A to point B but unwilling to pay the surcharge. The airports and airlines are businesses, not charities.
If he wants to step off the plane in his Dress Blues and not in mufti with his glory jacket packed neatly, let him purchase the service if required, eh?
(Though it would show due gratitude for the airline to accommodate him in this small favor.)
Just use the right credit card and you get expedited security on United...
As someone who flies on international flights a lot on business, I can say that is one perk that is honestly very appreciated. Additionally, it is not such a big thing considering a business ticket for an international flight can cost 3 times that for economy, and first class five times.
It's not for First Class. You're probably thinking of TSA Pre-check. I know you can pay about $80 and be guaranteed Pre-Check for all flights. But I don't have it and I travel for business occasionally and I'll get a Pre-Check on my boarding pass about half the time.
Because they pay more.
