Connie: Willie Colon - El Día De Suerte, ( This song is actually done in "La Murga", which is a rhythm from Panama which closely resembles the Salsa.) [ "The Day Of Luck" or more appropriately, "My Lucky Day". ] The 'idea' of the song is transparently stolen from "Alone Again, Naturally" originally performed by Gilbert O'Sullivan. The general gist of the song is, "My mom died then my dad died. I have no friends, no girlfriends, no one loves me, etc. When is my lucky day going to be? I hope that it occurs before my death." )

That old evil twinge is kicking up - I feel the perverse desire to open the windows, turn my speakers all the way up and play "Who Let The Dogs Out!"
Please stop me before I hurt myself!

ROCKUMENTARY: OCTOBER 11, 1971Following commencement in June, I worked as a contractor programming a telecommunications billing system, thanks to the fact that I had taken a few programming courses my last year in college. I was never to use my chemistry degree. I did so well that my boss tried to use his contacts at the Pentagon to get my orders lost and keep me around full time. He wasnt able to pull it off.
So I, who had never been south of Washington DC, found myself on the road to the Signal Officers School at Fort Gordon, GA. I lived in a trailer park in the town of Martinez (accent on the last syllable) near Augusta. I spent my weekends exploring the South and discovered the towns around Jekyll Island, where I would spend three years following my retirement.
My orders had me going to Fort Lewis, WA, not Vietnam. When the boys from the Pentagon came to Gordon, they told us that our orders were revoked, we would all spend six months at Gordon, and then we would go home unless we requested our orders be reinstated. Having tasted freedom from a terribly dysfunctional family, I had no desire to go back to New Jersey ever. I had always been interested in the West Coast and Seattle in particular. When I confirmed that Vietnam was off the table and that I would spend my two year hitch at Lewis, I said to the captain from the Pentagon, Dont touch anything!
In December I would have the adventure of driving from Georgia to Washington state in the winter and discovering the joys of daily life in the peacetime Army. In the long run, going into the Army was a good move. It got me away from my family and out to the West Coast, where I pretty much stayed.
So what were you up to?
Cue the Rockumentary theme!

Hi Publius!
1971..I had just met my hubby to be and we started going together.
Jean-Luc Goddard’s documentary “Sympathy For the Devil” had something to do with it!
I was overhead talking about the movie, a conversation ensued and a year later we were married.
