Yes they do. I lived in Palm Springs for 25 years so I am not unfamiliar with the culture.

I recognize that marriage equality can be a divisive issue in our community, but this was an opportunity to celebrate what I see as a civil rights victory. As you’ve seen and heard, North Carolina is now recognizing same sex marriage. This change greatly affects many in the City of Asheville. Recognizing the triumph of the LGBT community, should not be interpreted to undermine the viewpoints of others. Again, thank you for reaching out to me regarding the flag.
