Exactly the same way I feel about John Calvin.

I take a very literal interpretation of the First Amendment. All of it.

Given first to fourth century razor technology, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say he had a beard.

I guess the worst mass murder for religious reasons of United States citizens, would have been conducted by the Mormons.

Isaiah 50:6 says that He had a beard, is the translation in dispute?

I’ve always hated depictions of Him with long hair. Not only does it directly ignore Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 11:14 (God wouldn’t put that in the Bible if Jesus had long hair, and as far as I’m aware the translation to English of that verse isn’t particularly controversial), it also makes Him look like a sissy liberal, which He is NOT.

Nobody thinks the image describes how they really looked

Being of that time and place, descended from the people from whom he descended, and given the Biblical reference to Jesus Christ being bearded, he was bearded is the answer that a Christian should give.

That said, it’s not exactly a question to go down fighting about. This artist from so long ago had reason to depict Jesus Christ in that manner. It doesn’t comport to what we understand now, but there it is.

For what it’s worth. Not much, imho.

More historical confusion ... Christian Era is supposed to have replace Anno Domini.

CE and BCE sure didn't catch on.
What the heck is wrong with B.C. and A.D. anyway? Political correctness run amok? Religious bias?
Who knows. Who cares.

The PC hall monitors wanted to erase the religious connotation of BC and AD, and replace it with something neutral. Funny thing is, the start of their “Common Era” is what?

Try as they might, they failed.

Nada. I have a history professor now who said something like, "we got away from B.C. because it's based on the birth of Christ, to B.C.E. Which is based on the birth of Christ."

I do have some fun with a little pedantry, though. "Dude, it's '200 BC', but it's NEVER '200 AD'. It's 'AD 200.'"

I don't have many friends...

If you were a adult male Jew at that time, you had a beard.

No beard in the manger.

Got one later.

Not really. CE means Common Era, a way to get the Lord out of Year of Our Lord.

It’s part of the ‘cultural transformation’ to extinguish the presence of Christianity from any public venue or from anywhere altogether.

It is ‘Common Era’ and replaced AD. BCE stands for ‘Before Common Era’ and replaces BC.

Nice huh?

**Had these people been living in John Calvin’s time, they would have you burned at the stake or beheaded, so they have made some progress.**

Yup. The Roman Catholic Church was especially vicious during that time.

Aw come on - I suppose the next thing you're going to tell us is that he's not six inches tall, monochromatic, flat, and had his feet broken off by the Roman guards!

More so before that time. About the time Calvin was conducting his religious purges in Switzerland, Roman Catholic armies were beating back the Muslim hordes at the gates of Vienna and the fleets were doing the same at the gates of Venice.

Religious bigotry isn't justified no matter who is doing it. Self-defense as in the foregoing two examples is always justified.
