As a U.S. senator, Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., makes $174,000 a year. So imagine his surprise a few months ago, when he learned the Cover Oregon health insurance exchange had enrolled him in the Oregon Health Plan, which covers only the poorest of the poor.

Chalk up another embarrassing glitch for Cover Oregon, which remains a troubled work-in-progress after months of triage and more than $300 million in taxpayer money.

A few months ago, Merkley opened the mail at his east Portland home to find he’d been enrolled in the Medicaid-funded Oregon Health Plan.

The Oregon Democrat already had signed up for private insurance about six months before using the exchange, braving an application process that he called “horrific.” …

A millionaire gets enrolled in Oregon Medicaid!

Congratulations - I guess for Sen. Merkley, its a single payer dream come true.

If only. Oregon will not flip red. Ever, not with Portland and Eugene.

It’s Marxist Oregon. I’m surprised they didn’t enroll him in the Communist Party. Oh wait. It could happen there. Remember, Portland is Jihad-Central of that state, as Seattle is to Washington State.

There is no limit to what the Left can and will do out there. Just look at California, and weep.

Don’t you need your social security number and such to enroll? I have a hard time believing this was an actual mistake. Maybe a staff member did it for him. Although even that is a bit hard to believe.

Not sure, I haven’t checked. I despise the local governments here. I don’t live in Eugene, but check out it’s mayor. Kitty Piercy, some of the things she has done Pelosi would blush at.

For instance, remember OWS? Piercy set up a fence all around the Jefferson park under the overpass (downtown Eugene), and allowed them to camp in it. Basically it turned into a drug addled, disease ridden bum camp. Many young naive girls were raped, fondled, etc. I think two men were even murdered. She still would not take it down.

I will go check the polls. I listened to defazzio speak at LCC one time, because I was basically forced to. He actually doesn’t take the pay raises he is offered. Which I can admire. But his politics are a joke. He spoke in a forum of about 20 students, there were maybe 25 people in the room. It was interesting to see how a democrat progressive leftist to the max could speak so well that I forgot for a moment who I was listening to. I cannot deny the charm of these delusional minds. I think that is much of the problem, master manipulators, con artists. Playing off the ignorant.

But I don’t even care, there is no point. I vote but conservatives never win. The wealthy in Eugene and Portland are MOSTLY progressives, conservatives are a rare breed around these parts. Throwing their money at whichever uber progressive comrade they like the most. I’ll vote but I know that the GOP will not win Oregon. I have lived here most of my life and I can tell which way the wind is blowing. The local papers are all leftist drivel. There are two big colleges in Oregon, especially in Eugene which the left control. I have a family member who is surrounded by patriots and conservatives, that went to OSU. I saw him a few years back and had mentioned how terrible Obama is. He stared at me like I was some kind of inbred hick.

All the polls put Jerkley ahead.

Merkley +13.5

Knew it before I even checked. I hate this state. Won’t a red state secede already? I’ll be there as soon as I can.
