Not only the vaccines, it's also about people with diseases that aren't being properly recognized or treated, so that they have a higher risk of being antibiotic resistant. I also fear that some diseases may reach the point where the efficiency of actual vaccines may not be so miraculous, because the germs have mutated and adapted to it. It frankly reminds me of these guys... Only their adaptation is a result of incompetence and stupidity on our own side above all else.

I agree. I think He has given us more than enough time, and now it’s time to bring an end to it all. I myself am ready.

Turn to your Bible and you’ll have a clue.

I believe the current disease outbreaks are regularly occurring around the world. In the USA it is increasing because illegal immigration is being promoted like never before. Our borders are wide open; the laws that protect us are ignored. Thanks 0bola and Weepy Gang.

Ben Catson has a convoluted op ed on the subject that’s been posted here that defends sending our military into the region because an African life is worth as much as an American one.

One aspect of God’s judgment being released on our sinful planet ...
Since God created us in His own image, how come we turned out to be such "flawed" creatures?

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Are there more? Or are we just hearing about them more?

I don’t have tv. I don’t really hear about this stuff much. The bird flu and swine flu were a non-issue by the time I noticed they had even been a risk in this country.

Read Genesis 1 & 2. Part of His creation in His own image was giving us the freedom to choose. Adam chose “not God” vs. God. Sin entered mankind and has been progressively working its damage ever since.

Only way to be free of the monster of sin is believing on the Lord Jesus, taking His life and salvation, where the power of sin is broken. Still there, but doesn’t have to rule in a believer anymore.

The Lord Jesus will return to judge all of mankind. I have no righteousness of my own....He alone is my righteousness, and without His atonement for my sins - I too would be dead meat.

I disagree with the reasoning he’s put forth, but agree it is good for the military to be used there.

The reason for this is that preventing Ebola from becoming rampant in THIS country means successfully fighting it in THOSE countries where it is now present. If we can stop the epidemic in Africa, then we’ll stop it everywhere, or at least get better control of it.

Think of it this way... Untreated and allowed to simply run its course means Ebola will infect millions of Africans, and of this huge number (and as we’ve already seen) some will make to the West, to include Europe and America. When THOSE numbers reach a certain level, we WILL have a full blown epidemic here as well.

By treating it now, in Africa, we can prevent it from coming here. Of course this will require several more things to make it effective.

Number one, the military cordons off infected areas and prevents the sick there from carrying the disease elsewhere. I’m not sure this is their mission, but allowing those who have been infected to go elsewhere makes absolutely no sense.

Number two, we need a international quarantine of those countries currently infected. Call it racist, mean spirited, whatever, but it must be done. By having the military in place we can help people there; it proves we do not mean to simply lock the door and walk away.

Number three (or actually, this could be number one—if it is NOT being done, and woe to them if they’re not!) ensure our troops get COMPLETE biological protection. Full level 4 biohazard suits and decontamination facilities, constant screening of those involved with direct care of the infected, and all treatments take place in air-conditioned field hospital environments to make the hazmat suits livable.

I think if we do all these things, we can beat this disease.
