“...who argued the Republican-led legislature drew Virginia’s 3rd District to pack African-Americans into the district...”

That’s exactly what they want, otherwise some cracker will sneak in and get elected. If you spread them out then they whine that their guaranteed seat is being put at risk.

Election district mapping should be done by a computer program, not crooked politicians or corrupt judges.

Forget it. Those maps would serve to elect more White Democrats at the expense of Republicans.

Only in states that have to adhere to the voting rights act.

Great another writer who thinks doing something by computer takes it out of the hands of people. Who does this writer imagine programs the computer to draw the compact maps?

Who cares?

If that's the way the cookie crumbles, so be it.

We would a whole lot better off if lots of decisions currently made by government were made by an impartial computer program.

It would put an end to affirmative action, for one thing.

The compact maps are a lot less partisan than the politician-drawn maps of either party.

That will depend on who does the programing. That will depend on who sets te rules for the computer to draw the compact districts.

If they are compact, there can't be much finagling going on.

It's when you have narrow districts snaking all over the place that shenanigans are afoot.

I cares. All of that nonsense is a recipe for Democrat chicanery. Same as those bullcrap “Independent” redistricting boards, which always manage to draw Democrat districts (look at AZ, a Republican state that should have a 7-2 GOP majority if the legislature drew the lines... but instead, with a “fair” board, it managed to come up with a 5 Democrat-4 GOP farce, despite the latter getting more votes).

Those districts look much like Democrat-style lines, with urban Dem areas reaching out into rural/suburban areas and overwhelming the GOP parts. Take a look at IL, which just did the same thing for the 2012 redistricting, flipping a hard-won GOP majority in 2010.

How Democrat of you.

Only Democrats get to Gerrymander. Luis V. Gutiérrez in IL-4 has the most Gerrymandered district in America. But for that he’d be out of a job.

Pardon me if I want patriots elected to Congress at the expense of parasites, and if the lines must be drawn a certain way to achieve that end, so be it.

Get back to me when you’ve lived in a state that had the boot on the neck of Republicans for 140 years. I give the left no quarter, no inch. How Democrat of YOU, sir, to want to give away the country in the name of, ahem, “fairness.”

Virginia is a test case on how to steal a state. Very similar to how most NE states have been stolen and the transplants have made it possible.
where to next?

I want election districts that aren't rigged for anybody.

You're just a Tokyo Rove wannabe.

I was gonna ask “are they any ‘tards that agree with these lib judges, just like when it happened in Florida”? I guess the answer is yes.

The numbskils see the news, assume this means the stinky Black dem will lose, and celebrate. Putting animus for the Black democrat in question over common sense. Would you like 2 or 3 new Caucasian marxists to take his place? Eh, morons?

I’m sick of ninnies who have no fundamental understanding of politics, they should keep their childish opinions to themselves. Shut the hell up about “fairness”, you clowns. There is no such GD thing.

What kinda damage are we looking at if these queer Judges get their way? Can Governor A**face veto a new map?
