“On Tuesday, three federal judges sided with the plaintiffs, who argued the Republican-led legislature drew Virginia’s 3rd District to pack African-Americans into the district, thus diminishing their influence in neighboring districts and violating the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.”

Generally the Black Crook Caucus loves those kind of districts.

Building African American districts has been a cornerstone of Democrat politics for many years. Republicans have agreed to this gerrymandering because it also creates safe Republican districts, usually adjacent to these electoral monstrosities.

The Black Caucus is having a hissy fit tonight as their meal ticket has been taken away from them. I believe that time will show that today was the high water mark for the undue influence of the black political machine in our political system. They are done. Hispanics are going to seize political power from them and Blacks will go back to having the 12% stake in politics that their numbers will support. This may hurt Republicans short term, but I think that it will be a net plus for conservatives.

The Virginia legislature should tell the federal court to go pound sand...

It is time to let a computer draw Congressional Districts in every state. Equivalent population in each District and let the chips fall where they may. It is the ONLY FAIR way to do redistricting.

Ain't that the truth. I live in AZ 1 which is about 100 yards wide and 300 miles long and shaped like a sidewinder. My rep, Kirkpatrick is more than a tank of gas away.

I believe federal courts and the Justice Department have veto power over congressional district lines, to insure diversity is represented, of course.

A Republican drawn district to provide a safe Democrat seat to Robert C. Scott, Democrat and African American.

We can thank Justice Kennefy for the confusion over gerrymandering.
There was a Texas case a few years back where TX largely won (5-4, but with Kennedy only concurring) but Kennedy wrote an inexcusable concurring opinion which required TX to redraw one district.
The four on the right said gerrymandering is political and allowed, and the four lefties want their hands in it “to make sure it’s fair”.
Kennedy meanwhile is so in love with himself that his opinion on the matter appears to be the controlling one.

So they are upset that a district exists that gives an African American a safe seat? The GOP will still have control of both state houses.

Hispanics in California are busily creating Hispanic only districts using the state’s Voter Rights Act.

Black-robed fascist traitors have become so emboldened that they believe that their treason will be forgiven because they wear Grecian robes.

Hahahahahahah!!!
