Favipiravir is an analog, structurally, of lamivudine.
Japan has enough doses for 20K patients.
They have offered it to the WHO (in AUGUST!) and anyone who asks:
Do you think the Japanese would offer something they weren’t SURE would work and suffer loss of face?
Nigeria seems to have stopped the Port Harcourt cluster in its tracks with it:

So the question many of us have is this. Why aren’t we air dropping this stuff in West Africa right now?
Japan offered it a month and a half ago. When 20K patient doses would have been more than enough to stop the outbreak.
And yet we waste time with magical serums and potions that are hugely expensive, rare and unavailable for most. And we hear crickets on the use of this other drug.

Is climate change key to the spread of Ebola?

It’s an anti-HIV drug that’s taken for a long period of time (years) to stave off progression to full blown AIDS. The side effects of long term usage far and exceed those from taking it for 10 days to 2 weeks.
If you really want to be disturbed, read the label on statins, and any diabetes medication you run across.
The only publication I can find on lamivudine and ebola doesn’t seem to be any sort of laboratory experiment. Simply a discussion of antivirals:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=lamivudine+ebola
“A Cutting-Edge View on the Current State of Antiviral Drug Development”
If you find a link to a study specifically involving lamivudine and ebola I’d appreciate it.
Fauci said National Institutes of Health researchers have tested lamivudine's reaction to Ebola in test tubes. There was no response; but Fauci said researchers will adjust some levels and try it again "to see if there's even slight activity against Ebola."
I’d be more inclined to believe it if it had been published.
Given that Lamivudine is off patent, long time, there’s no motivation to test it against anything when you have something ON patent that might be approved and used.
See metformin approval for an example of this.
Forget chlorine...Mescal kills Ebola INSIDE AND OUT!
I find stuff similar to the article, but not what you are looking for:

This article provided more info from Dr. Logan than I have seen before. Still not what you requested.

We can't cure ANY virus. Not Herpes, not the common cold, not HIV, not ANY virus. All we can do is treat the symptoms. There is no secrete cure for Ebola.
Next time you get the flu, take a little slug of colloidal silver and report back.
Whew...inevitable it was. Thanks.
Well, I imagine when your brain is being eaten by a virus, it causes some damage.
Although colloidal silver has been called a cure-all, its healing properties, as reported by the companies that manufacture the supplement and its related products, haven't been published in reputable medical journals. It's really not known if colloidal silver cures ailments, and the side effects include everything from seizures and kidney damage to fatigue and skin irritation.
Due to the lengthy list of side effects and relatively sparse information on what this product can actually do for you, you won't find many health experts promoting the substance.

And yet thirteen people recovered fully from the Ebola virus.
It is cheap, too. About .98 a dose.
The side effects of ebola are a lot worse.
