I commend the student and his family for standing up for their principles, but I have long believed that this is the wrong battle for God-fearing Christians to be fighting.
If anything, cases like this illustrate why public education in its entirety is fatally flawed. In fact, I'd suggest that the concept of "public education" is thoroughly incompatible with the ideals of a free nation.

I would dearly love to see wholesale firings of school administrative officials. In most school districts the administration payrolls are higher than the teacher payrolls. Easily 75% of administrators could be fired. All anyone would notice would be an improvement as interfering bureaucrats no longer screwed things up.

And of course it’s a given that they have the Gay Straight Alliance and GLSEN clubs. Those are a given, but, a Christian club???? Too controversial......
To: SkyDancer
That Christian kid is smart. He said “I feel marginalized.” He’s using liberal words against them. I’m sure he learned that vocabulary in school. It’s those kind of words that will do well in court.

Ward Melville High? Ward Melville was the founder of Thom McAnn. Big money.

It was never meant to be compatible with American Freedom. It was instituted to teach the offspring of the millions of 19th century immigrants how to work for their betters in America and not to become independent thinkers and doers.

Agreed, but we can fight more than one war at once. If there are public schools, believers should have the same rights. It isn’t an either-or, it’s a both-and.

Wonder if the “animal love freedom” types would be too controversial for the school?
Were I completely evil, I’d go and see what groups they would approve of, would make an interesting article.

I suggest that you’re going to change your tune when CAIR starts demanding the same considerations for Muslims in your local public schools.

That's exactly right.
That's also why we should look back to the mid-1800s for the best approach to dealing with this kind of idiocy. The Catholic leadership of this country established their own parochial school systems to keep their children from being poisoned by the popular culture of the U.S. Look around and see how much worse it is today, and see how much more urgent it is to get the kids the hell out of those schools entirely.
