Hagan’s Husband Used Stimulus Money To Hire His Own Company ( North Carolina )

Solar company formed weeks before Chip Hagan's business received grant. RALEIGH — Sen. Kay Hagan’s husband and son created a solar energy contracting company in August 2010, and then, using $250,644 in federal stimulus grant funds, her husband hired that same company to install solar panels at a building he owns.

Public records show that Green State Power was formed seven weeks before JDC Manufacturing — a company owned in part by Greensboro attorney Charles “Chip” Hagan III, Sen. Hagan’s husband — received the stimulus grant for the solar project at a 300,000-square-foot facility in Reidsville, N.C.

...

Hagan, a Democrat, was elected in 2008, assumed office in 2009, and is seeking re-election to the Senate. Her opponents in the November election are Republican state House Speaker Thom Tillis and Libertarian Sean Haugh.

Green State Power’s website claims the company was founded in 2008, before Hagan became a U.S. senator. But records from the Corporations Division of the N.C. Department of the Secretary of State show the company was formed on Aug. 10, 2010, under the name Solardyne.

JDC Manufacturing’s stimulus grant was awarded Sept. 29, 2010 — seven weeks after Chip Hagan filed papers with the secretary of state’s office creating the company.

It’s nice to be a powerful Senator, it makes becoming rich so much easier.

If Hagan were a GOPer, the “media” would be all over it like Moochelle on pizza.

This is where all this ‘stimulus’ money has been going. That and ‘defense contractors’.

It sure is ‘stimulating’ .... for some people’s bank accounts

I’ll bet you that there are Republicans doing the same damn thing. Cronyism is rife throughout our elected officials.

Pork, pork and more pork.

The GOP should hop all over this. Oh wait, such a partisan attack might offend the moderates or crack Karl Rove’s white board or something.

The GOP should hop all over this.

Riight. They're running goofy soft-focus human interest ads, not hitting Hagan on anything. Tillis grinning like a mule eating sawgrass with small children.

Puppies! That's the ticket!

This race his Karl Rove’s fingerprints all over it. They are so damn scared of the “war on women” meme that they aren’t hitting Hagan on anything. Rove is a cancer on the GOP that needs to be removed.

Well, I just saw a Tillis ad ahead of a YouTube video that was an issue ad on treatment of vets in VA hospitals.

No Tillis shown in the ad at all, not even his voice at the end. Only graphics and images of Hagan. Female voiceover.

You’re right, they’re scared to be hard-hitting because Hagan’s a woman.

Offshore Fraudster had links to offshore fund run by VP Biden's relatives
Reuters on Yahoo | 2/23/09 | BY Ajay Kamalakaran

(Reuters) – A fund of offshore hedge funds run by two members of VP Joe Biden's family was marketed exclusively by offshore firms controlled by Texas financier Allen Stanford, charged by regulators with an $8 billion fraud, the Wall Street Journal said.

The Bidens $50 million fund was jointly branded between the Bidens' Paradigm Global Advisors LLC and the offshore Stanford Financial Group entity headquartered in Antigua, and was known as the Paradigm Stanford Capital Management Core Alternative Fund, the paper said. Stanford-related offshore companies marketed the Biden fund to investors and also invested about $2.7 million of their own money in the fund, the paper said, citing a lawyer for Paradigm.

Paradigm Global Advisors is owned through a holding company by the vice president Biden's son, Hunter, and Joe Biden's brother, James, according to the WSJ. Paradigm's attorney, Marc LoPresti, who represents Hunter Biden and James Biden, as well as Paradigm, told the paper he did not know which Stanford entity invested the roughly $2.7 million. Convicted con man R. Allen Stanford used offshore corporate money to become a big man ae the Democratic convention in Denver. A video posted on the firm's web-site shows Stanford, being hugged by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and praised by former President Bill Clinton for helping to finance a Democrat convention-related forum and party put on by the National Democratic Institute.

"I would like to thank the Stanford Financial Group for helping to underwrite this," Clinton said to the crowd at the event. Stanford Financial was listed as the "lead benefactor" for the gathering, and Stanford was permitted to address the audience of several hundred.

The SEC charged yesterday that Stanford was running a fraudulent offshore investment scheme that may have bilked customers out of as much as $8 billion. Over the last decade, Stanford has spent more than $7 million on lobbyists and campaign contributions to Washington politics in both parties, although the vast majority of the money has gone to Democrats.

"We had no reason to believe that a very public company that was also engaged in philanthropic work might be suspect," said a spokesperson for the National Democratic Institute, Amy Dudley. (Excerpt) Read more at abcnews.go.com ...
