If there is any growth, it is at the extreme upper end of the income scale. The very wealthy are increasing the concentration of wealth.

This is a feature of Crony Capitalism. The very wealthy are able to rig the game to keep competitors down and maintain their position as being too big to fail.

Usually the Big Guy has a bunch of Little Guys nipping at his heels, and the agile newcomers manage to steal market and innovate faster than the lumbering mega-corporatation. But if you tax those little guys and release 5,000 new pages of regulation every day of the week, you can completely suppress innovation and create insurmountable barriers to entry.

Thus the Rich get richer, the poor get food stamps, and the middle class gets to keep working for The Man.
