OPM plans to end contract with USIS after cyberattack hit major security clearance contractor

WASHINGTON – The federal Office of Personnel Management plans to terminate its massive contracts with USIS, the major security clearance contractor that was targeted last month by a cyberattack, agency, congressional and company officials said Tuesday. The computer network intrusion compromised the personal files of as many as 25,000 government workers.

The early August cyberattack against USIS' computer network compromised the files of 25,000 Homeland Security Department workers and is under investigation by the FBI. The OPM official spoke on condition of anonymity because the matter remains a criminal investigation. USIS has said it was targeted by what it described as a "state-sponsored attack."

Marnee Banks, spokeswoman for Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., said OPM officials notified Tester's office earlier in the day that the agency had decided to sever its relationship with USIS by the end of September. Tester also confirmed the move, saying: "This news is a welcome sign that the federal government is finally beginning to hold contractors accountable for taking millions in federal money and then failing to get the job done for the taxpayer."

Clearance Files of 25,000 contractors compromised? Not that I'm suprised, but this needs to be added to the failures of this administration.

Is USIS the second person conjugation of ISIS, perhaps?

Well, one can say that they could have a point about them being hacked. However, this is all about turning these jobs back into government jobs.

And furthermore, if this does go back to being a government run department, expect the same people from USIS to be running and working in it.

And one more thing...if what this democrat spokesmouth was saying was true, she would be holding the companies that failed in the Obamacare debacle, but oh wait, they are democrat party donors so nevermind.

Personal or personnel files? It's not the same.

It seems in order for liberalism to progress, it must needs build incompetence upon incompetence, and so it shall be, this incompetent contractor will be replace by another incompetent contractor, like the tower of babel, we will be crushed by this liberalism weight as it tumbles, and those who survive will be necessarily dispersed.

Just my opinion, based upon observation and historical evidence.
