How about we try the “experimental treatment” of impeaching Obama, enforcing border LAWS, and banning all flights from West Africa?

Has that method received FDA approval yet?

Wonder what the long aliphatic tail does...

Only for people who donated to the ‘wrong’ political causes...

That’s likely per day. Not counting the cost of the equipment that may not be able to be sterilized (dialysis machine, respirator, etc)

Great. Guy lies to get back here (assuming he is from here; still a little unclear on that), infects numerous people (after he had to know he was infected - hear the story in the taxi in Liberia?), and gets the ZMapp - special serum. (Not a cure; but worked so far on the two earlier infected Americans - although one is back in the hospital with a - hopefully unrelated - respiratory illness.)

Been asking for a week why no one was talking about ZMapp. All of a sudden, just yesterday (maybe Saturday) people started asking if Duncan was getting the “cure”. I wonder if the new case- the infected American journalist triggered the discussion. Hopefully, he will get it too.

Heard the CDC head talking this morning about ZMapp and how it could make the sickness worse. In Duncan’s defense, the guy is critical and dying. Don’t want to make it worse??

Still have yet to hear if it is being produced in mass quantities.

I have a sense there is a epic fight between CDC (who want to use ZMapp to make Obama look good) and the wonks at FDA who want to run a couple years of tests. Obviously, we peon citizens have no right to know. All is well.

As long as there is enough ZMapp for the infected Americans who don’t cheat to get back here, give it to him. We are not barbarians.

I agree. This Obama CF is going to cost billions if we are lucky. If not, cost won’t matter any more because we’ll be dead.

Friedan said we had no more experimental drugs, just this morning. By golly, they need to get that sucker outta that hospital. Did they give him Boehner’s ZMapp? Or did they need a reason to get him well quick?

Geesh

Did you read the linked article at all?

There is no more zmapp.

He’s receiving an antiviral drug. That’s structurally related to the one being used by this Liberian doctor with amazing recovery rates:

http://edition.cnn.com/2014/09/27/health/ebola-hiv-drug/

This is a ‘small molecule’ drug. Meaning it’s probably ‘pillable’ and doesn’t require the extensive cold chain for transport that zmapp and vaccines require. Cold chain transmission isn’t readily available in Africa, refrigerators need electricity and that’s ‘iffy’ over there. Pills are much more readily available and easier to handle there.

My guess is that none of these treatments are going to save the day. The virus grows in the cells that line the blood vessels and the cells that comprise the immune system. So A) there is a lot of virus spreading everywhere and B) the immune system is toast. I have no idea how people manage to fight it off.
